Probably said this before, but I really don't get the hate aimed at Dykes. Not his fault he got injured. Not his fault he happened to get back to relative fitness in time for the international break. Not his fault he got a bit of game time (which was actually probably beneficial to us in terms of his match fitness) Not his fault he's not Harry Kane. He's a late-starting footballer, who's still developing, who's scored some useful goals, gets stuck in and does a job for the club. Not his fault the club got caned for FFP transgression and is now run on a shoestring and couldn't afford anyone more highly rated. FFS, anyone would think he plays for Fulham the dog abuse he gets sometimes. A lot of your ‘not his faults’ aren’t his fault. What is his fault is that he doesn’t get stuck in and do a job like you say. Been said lots of times on here if he hasn’t scored he’s done nothing. He doesn’t give defenders a hard time and he doesn’t work to get himself into a game. He’s 26 and been playing since he was 17 - ok, shit Aussie stuff but he doesn’t look like he’s learned anything about how and where to play as a striker. Charlie mk2 doesn’t give us anything either, granted, but Gray has to be our first choice. For all his critics, work rate isn't one. I'm happy he's getting game time, he needs it. Otherwise he would be rusty for us. If he gets injured again obv that's shit, but he hasn't yet so we can't complain at something that hasn't happened.

If he had 4 and was top scorer is that any achievement Take Lyndon out of it I would expect main striker to be netting minimum 15 goals a season

I watched Alfie Lloyd in the U23 against Charlton a couple of days ago and although he didn’t have any goal scoring opportunities I was impressed enough with his hold up play to say he will be twice the player Dykes is.
I wasn’t too impressed with both trialists but Flaherty looks the part.

It’s been mentioned before but it makes you wonder why LF doesn’t play more of a role with coaching our strikers. Seems such a waste of valuable talent and experience on tap that could be being utilised. He’s even got his badges.

Youre seriously comparing Mitrovic and Dykes? One's obvious premier league quality and one us Dykes...

There’s got to be some young strikers out there abroad to loan or buy that decent and our price.

There’s got to be some young strikers out there abroad to loan or buy that decent and our price. Do we actually do foreign players and managers? I think there's none in our current squad that have been scouted abroad, (with the exception of Dieng from Duisburg which was like 6 years ago). There's scant evidence of that level of scouting at all, in terms of what's actually been signed.

Didn’t Idrissa Sylla score the last time we beat Fools? Now there’s a guy who never got a fair crack here. Proper battler in front of goal. And doubt he would have been on big money. Yes, there must be more out there.

As the game spreads around the world and standards improve accordingly there must be affordable Syllas out there looking to elevate their game. Scouting in these areas could be a good short term strategy for the club because the academy isn’t going to start bearing fruit for a couple of years at least. Still ticks the box of improving players for profit- just not young kids.

How easy is it the sign overseas players these days though?
I know from my work that the landscape for hiring people without British passports or "settled / pre-settled" status since Brexit has changed. You need to apply to be a sponsor for overseas employees and there is a process to follow with limitations.

That hadn’t occurred to me.

Do bits and bobs locally though, and the landscape with regards to residency and visas etc. has certainly changed after Brexit.
