yeah neither of those a real world valuations. well we were bid 3 million from Millwall for Dykes and Arsenal, Leeds and 1 other team were quoted interested in Dieng for 6 million which the club refused to let them speak to Dieng for even if we got 4 million for Dieng it would be covered the 3m for dykes was structured in a way that it was pointless to sell him as the odds off us getting that 3m in full was as likely as dykes scoring in open net from 2 yards out

Prob £1m up front
£1.5m if he scores 30 goals in all comps over duration of his contract
£2m if Millwall finish in play offs
£2.5m if he plays more than 10 games for Scotland (increases his value)
£3m if he stays for full 3 years of his contract
Probably broken down similar to that like a lot of football contracts.
The nuts and bolts of it is we'd prob see between £1m - £1.5m

I think us having to pay Millwall those figures u quoted is poor state for them to take one lung.

Charlie Austin played for Poole Town and went right through the levels to score in the top flight as goal scorers score because the goal does not move. Exactly that mate. Some just have a knack. It is why Dykes struggles in the box as it is not natural to him. This quality cannot be coached or taught.

I've said on this forum countless times that he's not got a footballers brain. I watch him and he doesn't make the sensible runs, doesn't position himself well, doesn't see the quick pass or flick on. He's literally a fit athlete that can play a bit and has got extremely lucky stumbling along just doing enough to forge a career.

Well…
Standing ovation from me.
Absolutely brilliant today. Putting himself about, getting stuck in, some nice lay offs and a shot on goal.
The biggest thing for me is before this game the team were in such shit who would really want to put themselves forward to play in such a poor side? But he did. Got to give maximum props for that. Would have been very easy to sack this one off against a very good side.
Well done Lyndon 👏🏼

Well done Lyndon. 5 or 6 weeks ago the bloke had tubes coming out of him and as soon as he could he was straight on the pitch giving it a go. Exactly the right character needed right now, Compare him to the Roberts, JCS, Balogan and Laird's of the world who clearly are not up for the fight now and who let the last manager down. Give me Dykes over any of them in the situation we are in. I for one will be over the moon for him if and when he nicks a goal.

Still think we need a better goalscorer but can't deny he does put himself about and get stuck in. More than anything though, I'm glad he's back up and running after his illness. That would've knocked the stuffing out of him but you wouldn't have known it yesterday, the man didn't stop. Glad he's back healthy and hopefully he'll push on from here.

Can’t disagree with above posts but he’s still a poor excuse for a striker. Kakay put over a fantastic cross that he just stood and watched where a decent CF would have been steaming in on it with anticipation and, a similar cross a bit later, he cushioned it for the defender to clear. The bloke just hasn’t got it, simple as that.

I really don’t see that - what does he do? Easy game for opponent CBs. Look at Martin, constantly in their faces, knocking them about, winding them up so they lose it - and Martin is well past his sell by.

Well mainly that we won and the last time we played well (Sheffield) he played and our win before yesterday he played.

Absolute fcuking hero yesterday and my motm
He was hospitalised with pneumonia in late January and was on that pitch for 55 minutes yesterday...
I can relate to it as I was hospitalised with the same condition in the middle of the world cup and although I'm better now and back in the gym training....
I haven't set foot on the football field on a Sunday morning yet....
Difference no doubt between a half fit low level ref and a professional football player but he looked grey coming off that field but him and Martin looked like a pwopa pair of strikers and gave Watford no end of grief...
Respect Lyndon

Respect Lyndon The fact he wanted to be out there considering our run of form speaks volumes. Give me 11 Lyndon Dyke's types over Clarke Salter or Roberts any day of the week.

The thick fuck had two players along side him to cushion it down to but he lays it into the path of their defender. He is absolute turd

Or build up his fitness so we benefit Haha, love the positivity I'm just going on past history - I think in his early Scotland days, he'd been doing well for us, but got crocked on Scotland duty and hasn't performed as well (in terms of goal-scoring) for us since. Hoping Martin will spur him on, add a bit of nastiness and grit into his game.

No issue with Dykes as at least he has made himself available after being in hospital last month. Where is Laird, Willock, Balogan, JCS when they are needed? These kind of characters need to be moved on and these prima donna signings can never be signed again.

He's got some heart I'll give him that but if I never ever saw him play for us again I'd be happy.

Lot bigger problems at the club than Dykes. Indeed, attitude wise he is one of our better ones.
Far more concerned about Dickie and Dunne who are apparently too worried about their perms to put their head where it matters to prevent playground goals.

Not having a pop at you Stains - nor anyone else for that matter - but I really don’t get how Teflon he is with so many fans. He shouldn’t be picked because he’s a nice bloke with a big heart, this is a football team and he’s hopeless. We’ve waited far too long for him to improve. It’s not going to happen. A couple of half decent games a season and all is forgiven. Even his video on the official shows him missing headers. Credit for his cross at Blackpool but that will be it for another month.

I said early in the season he has 1 good game every 8 or 9 and that seems to keep people happy. I’d probably take a guess that’s nearer to 1 good game every 15 if we’re honest. He’s one of the worst forwards I’ve ever seen at the club tbh and we’ve had some shit.
