Not having a pop at you Stains - nor anyone else for that matter - but I really don’t get how Teflon he is with so many fans. He shouldn’t be picked because he’s a nice bloke with a big heart, this is a football team and he’s hopeless. We’ve waited far too long for him to improve. It’s not going to happen. A couple of half decent games a season and all is forgiven. Even his video on the official shows him missing headers. Credit for his cross at Blackpool but that will be it for another month. I said early in the season he has 1 good game every 8 or 9 and that seems to keep people happy. I’d probably take a guess that’s nearer to 1 good game every 15 if we’re honest. He’s one of the worst forwards I’ve ever seen at the club tbh and we’ve had some shit. Someone should do a poll. Might be interesting. |

It was actually a superb finish by Dykes. Great cross by Chair too. Indeed, our worst striker in living memory according to the poll. Battled hard and overall had a decent game today I thought. |

Think it's more frustration with him than anything. He's as bad as he is and has 7 goals this season, with a bit more about him he could've been double that.

Got chatting some baggies fans way home on tram and they could not say enough good things about Dykes. Said your no9 is a handful and one of the best CF they had faced this season. Also said they would happily swap him for their Dikes. They were just unlucky to catch him on his 1 in every 6 good games. He's at least shown more effort in the last couple of games, Hopefully he can turn a corner under GA and form a good partnership with Martin. Worst QPR striker in living memory? Bit of a stretch that tbf. |

Maybe he did and maybe the comments struck a chord. If so, they certainly made a difference yesterday more so than any coaching he’s had for three years. More likely Ainsworth has had a word because if you’re going to hump it occasionally you need someone to hit.

Believe he showed good movement, got past his man and attacked the front post for his header the thing plenty say he don’t do. Is that not his third this season attacking front post?

2 up front and getting crosses into the box (so Dykes and Martin at least have something to go for) must be the way forward surely ?

We've had a World Cup in that time and as said he was hospitalised in January.... I'm surprised he came back so quick
I was in hospital with pneumonia in December and although I'm back in the gym now, I ain't going back on a football field until May and maybe not until next season...
The difference is I'm a low level sunday league ref who enjoys an elbow to a dissenting players neck while he's a professional athlete maybe....

Gave a good positive interview and that is what is needed right now. The bloke was on tubes in January so fair play to the man for getting back out there and giving it a right good go.

Scored a good goal and played much better than usual but he only did what he’s supposed to do. The fact we’re all so pleased just shows how poor he’s been for so long. I really hope he’s turned a corner but I’m not signing up to a Lyndon love-in yet because we’ve seen it all before. If he scores the goals that keep us up then great as we’ll also be able to sell him for a few quid. I wouldn’t be sorry to see him go as I’ve never seen the consistency needed for him to be a good player.

Its hard to think of a single player who has covered himself in much glory this season. The confidence of every player is shot and they are miles off where they should be. Endlessly telling them how crap they are doesn't help unless they are completely arrogant. My impression (might be completely wrong) is that our players tend not to be cock of the walk types, they seem totally lost to me. This is a thread of 54 pages - must be one of the longest on here - basically repeating again and again how crap he is. No one is saying he is the next Les Ferdinand. He's a lump. But he's our lump so might as well get behind him. He tends to score in streaks, Lyndon, (fairly short streaks, its true), so lets just cheer him on and see where it gets us. One point at the weekend, another point next weekend and Lyndon doing the basics is one more player doing the basics - along with Chair and Field. Lets get behind them and maybe one or two other players might step up the week after.

Let's hope that goal a) does Dykes' confidence the World of good and b) encourages more players to get the service into areas he should be in as we always seem to want to walk it in or give it to Chair/Willock to try and curl it in the top bins To be fair to many of us here, that's precisely what we've been calling for for the last 2.5 years, because with a limited player like him it seems obvious to at least play to his strengths. It's exactly what Scotland do too is my understanding. |
