Signs new 4 year deal until 2024!!
Wonder if this is why he’s been kept out of the team. Hopefully he gets a run out at the weekend after Wallace’s shambolic performance!

Get him in the team and give him a run of at least 10 games as cannot be any worse than Wallace last night and Manning before him.

Suspect he'll get a game at the weekend. If he's worth a 4 year deal in the Manager's eyes then he's gotta be better than the shite Wallace has been serving up so far this season.
One thing I've noticed about Warburton is that he's very loyal. He tends to give a player a game or 2 longer than the fans when they are struggling with form.

Did Kilmarnock fans rate him?

Did Kilmarnock fans rate him? they thought he was solid but not spectacular for them. he played well up there but they weren't fussed if they didn't sign him. that being said i do remember a few championship teams sniffing round in the summer. decent prospect who hopefully will turn out like kakay, give him a run of games

Played the last 3 games now. What are people's thoughts?
Not let the side down and done pretty well on the whole IMO. Can't exactly say the same for his predecessors, although still early days.
Still only 23 on a 4 yr deal, so could push on and potentially establish himself in that position.

been solid but not spectacular. still too early to properly judge him but he hasn't put a foot wrong. needs to close down and get stuck in more but has been decent with the ball at his feet

I like him. Out of position at times but he's 23 so needs to be playing regularly for us. A pity we never got the wise old CB to help him, Kakay and Masterson.

I think what we are seeing is what we will get from Niko. Solid 6 or 7 out of 10 most weeks. Nothing spectacular, but a pretty solid Championship standard defender.
Upgrade on the last 2 left backs though. Both have been accidents waiting to happen.

Poor guy has come in and is playing in a back line that gets turned on giving penalties away each game. I like him and think he should be given an extended run to show what he can do

I'm certainly a lot more confident with him at left back than Manning or Wallace.

Hard to know if he was a late bloomer or we'd just not realised how good he was (probably the former, would be criminal if the latter). His career is odd 40 odd games for Grasshoppers 2nd team and a few games on loan in the Swiss 2nd division. Then we'd loaned him out to some really low level clubs. I'd suspected Dieng and Hämäläinen were both good enough for the 1st team having them play a few times in Scotland. Said it at the start of the season they were the only 2 players at the club outside the 1st team that could improve our 1st team. Still not convinced I was right on Niko. Started well, but he's probably only just about a Championship player from what I've seen. But Dieng so far has exceeded all of my expectations. He looks a very good keeper. I honestly think there’s a player in Niko but he’s not a wingback. Yet. Remember furlong looking dogshit and then all of a sudden....to be fair to niko he’s been thrown in at the deep end in a side in poor form probably before he’s ready. Learning on the job and expect him to develop into a decent player

And he's our best option at Left Back for now (although there is an argument to play 4 at the back with Barbet at Left Back). I just thought he was a bit better than he's looked so far based on a few games I'd seen him play up in Scotland. Like you say, still developing and I don't wanna be harsh on the lad. He's working hard and doing his best, which is good enough.

Jury’s out but they’re due in soon and it’s not looking good. He’s 24 next month.
Kane is poor too but at least he doesn’t go missing or shirk the defensive side.
He was a panic contract renewal when we messed up with likes of Eze and BOS.

Judging by our recent rumoured interest in Alfie Doughty that the club do feel the same way about Nico.
In fairness Alfie Doughy looked like he could play in a number of positions as his utube clips showed.
Seen this player mentioned elsewhere and although very young could also fit the bill.Mathew Sorinola at MK Dons

niko is ok but doesn't look like he'll be any better than a lower championship/upper league 1 player. people compare him to darnell but darnell always had talent and unique attributes to his game like his leap or long throws which put him a cut above most RBs.
not a write off by any means but has niko ever been higher than a 6/10 in a game for us?

Agree. Given our squad I'd play him but I can't see him getting a great deal better. Definitely keeps Wallace out for me.

I liked what I saw of Wallace last season, but when he was given a run of games this season he looked like an accident waiting to happen. Suspect we won't see too much more of him now and he'll go when his contract is up in the summer.
Niko is a work in progress and good enough for now. I mean, I didn't think Kaykay has gonna be good enough at this point last year and he's won me over this season.
I actually like the look of Barbet on the left side of a 4. He won't offer much going forward, but he's more solid than our other options defensively.
Priority with what remains of this window needs to be a creative midfielder or 2. If we happen to be able to find another option at left back too then happy days!
