Did not want him back 2nd time around but the man did a very good job when we were in administration and did bring a togetherness that has only been felt since under Warnock. Do not him as a manager but fully deserving to be recognised for his work at the club.

That’s concern with people calling for Warnock. It’s never as good second time as first. Don’t ruin the memories

Don’t ruin the memories Cannot compare the two Westy as Warnock knew what was needed and how he wanted to play with 4 or 5 games after getting there. Peaky blinder was still playing the wing back system 30 games longer than he should. Warnock before JFH was doing well until Fernandes and Ferdinand went for JFH.

It was more to do with our loyal fanbase calling for his head week after week culminating in over 15k fans singing "Sacked in the morning" to him at the MK Dons cup game. TBH he had run out of ideas at that stage.

he had run out of ideas at that stage Because Tango & Cash had given him zero funds in the previous transfer window because they were selling the club. Promoted to the EPL with a pitiful 11th hour transfer budget and any manager would struggle!

I’m ashamed to say I was one of those, not calling for his head, but who thought the time had come as we looked lost. Wish could go back and change that decision Ollie total cunt second time round should never have come back.

Yeah, sacking Warnock (1st time round) was TF’s first big mistake, which I knew and said at the time. But we move on as ever! 😎

I think a lot of fans at the time, both at games and watching on tv said the same thing about being fed up with the post match interviews which were heavily dependent on "it's a privilege to be playing these teams".

[ Hindsight is a wonderful thing but maybe he was right about it being a privilege to play the big boys. The EPL era was doomed from day one due to the boom to bust approach and instead of taking steps we wanted to take leaps. We were as a squad not good enough and ultimately we threw good money after bad signings which caused us then and still is no massive issues.

At the time our fanbases expectations were way out of control even though Bolton spanked us 4 nil first game up. That January was a huge downward turning point in our history as we brought in Hughes and Rigg who between them have crippled us financially then and now and many years to come.

Can only wish him the very best of luck.
I see he will be acquiring shares, attending all board meetings and moving to the local area, so he is clearly going to give it his total commitment.
Really hope he does well and it all works out for him over time. Be nice to think Grimsby could be aiming to reach Championship level in 5 years or so. And if they do, he will have worked his way into the folklore of yet another club.
For all his failings, he doesn’t deserve his legacy to be one of a very unsatisfactory and totally under achieving return to a club he holds dear.

lets be honest. this is a great appointment for them. ollie is league 1 level now so for grimsby to get him its a massive coup for their club. he gets belief back into the players and is a good motivator and whilst thats no longer good enough for the championship it'll be good enough for league 2 imo.
he won't get them relegated but they'll finish comfortably in midtable imo

What I like about Ollie is that he wears his heart on his sleeve, is 100% committed, and always mad as a box of frogs. Trouble is that these same qualities has also been his problem as a manager.
