So why no forward in Jan ? My honest “guess” is it’s possible the club could be very close to the £18m ceiling this season. This actually bears out two points I've been banging on about. Firstly, the impossibility of avoiding loss as a championship club outside the parachute regiment (ie Norwich, Fulham, Watford etc). Which, secondly, is a reason for investing at the right moment. Which in turn relates to EFL sanctions and proportionality as quoted on here. |

By about a million miles. Combine that with the way FFP works (ie the massive distinction between prem FFP rules and championship FFP regs) and you have a decent sustainability model. Nothing is without risk, we all know that, but risk can be minimised. |

Obviously those numbers are nuts and they are being clever somewhere.
Don't forget how much they make from shirt sales etc though with Mbappe on the back. Must rake it in with French sponsors as well as their owners companies.

Direct response to Derby's situation that I'd assume Westy. What they were accused of (amongst other things) was not correctly devaluing the asset value of their playing staff as their contracts ran down. Significantly overvaluing their assets in the accounts by doing so.
