Was there ever a time when market forces have not been dominant in professional sport? This is just its latest iteration. As I said earlier, the market has no morals, so the people end up with the sport they've chosen. The businessmen owners are just the catalysts in the process. Unless you nationalise the industry (or clubs are owned by fans) this is the inevitable way it always goes. It's human nature.

Exactly,u don't spend fortunes on a mega club if you don't think you can make tons back by exploiting every single revenue source out there.

Unless you nationalise the industry yeah I mean if HMG were serious they would legislate to enforce a limitation on private ownership of clubs, Deutscheland style. As I've said many times the only thing that concerns Beej is his own advancement, he's muscling in on the spin around the issue but that's all he ever does, they wont actually do anything. None of it matters anyway because I'm still convinced this is a bargaining ploy to get a better CL deal out of UEFA. Don't ever forget how corrupt UEFA and FIFA have been in the past. Sepp - fucked the world for years, still a free man and hasn't paid a penny to anyone. That's real class.

Beginning to worry that the six leeches won't be expelled/ break away. Would that the rest of football expel them and rebuild a competitive and fair league. Some dirty deal will he done, I suspect, and they'll get further advantages from staying. The mark of Cain is upon them. Get rid of them now. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Guardiola: “Sport is not a sport when the success is guaranteed.” 😂😂😂😂. Man City have spent £1bn to ensure success

The 6 have shown their hand very early on and deal or no deal the fans of United, Liverpool and Arsenal will not forget this and in Liverpool's case they have already got rid of one set of American owners based on how they ran the club

Perez and Glazer as Chairman and Vice Chairman why would anyone doubt their motives. Oh I nearly forgot Levy who is the cherry on top of the cake.

Still think it's all up in the air and that there are a few lawyers who are going to do very, very well out of this (no change there then).
So far Guardiola and (slightly more reserved) Klopp have spoken out against the idea of the ESL. Most fans are up in arms. Can the so-called 'Big Six' hold out against this almost universal anger against their plans?
I guess that might depend on how long the anger/protest is kept up.
In the meantime, nice comment on Twitter from Mark Steel:

All three American owned and following the models they know from the states

Very much agree with 77 and 73 on this.
I would even go further and revoke all 6 clubs sporting and athletic licences and barr them from all professional football matches at all levels.
As its not the players, staff, and managers faults, i would create 6 replacement clubs, an make an open offer to all players and staff to join them.
If they refuse to join the newly created clubs or refuse to transfer from any of the 6, then they should be banned from playing international football.
Lastly, install fan majority ownership in all 4 tiers of english football.
This is the chance us fans have been waiting for.
if only we had an fa and fl with bollocks to do something about this.

Lets see if Uefa boot Chelsea, City and Madrid out of the CL as they have suggested. American ownership is bad for the game as they do not give a shit about a clubs history. The Glazers are absolute parasites that need to be removed from football and Kroenke as well.

Now don't take this the wrong way... BUT I have to applaud the actions of some Chelsea fans, who are blocking the road in a sit-down protest outside the ground prior to tonight's match against Brighton.

Fair play to them and Leeds last night and lets hope they sling this cartel out as there is no trust there anymore between them and the rest of the leagie

Breaking news Chelsea looking to withdraw Them and City will withdraw 100% United, Arsenal absolutely no chance and Liverpool owners may well ride it out as well. Levy well he is just Levy so will follow the gravy train of greed. United should be looked at and given huge points deduction for now and the next 5 seasons minimum of 25 points a season as the ring leaders of this bollox. Devalues them players will leave and none will join which could result in those parasites being run out of the game.

They still need to face harsh sanctions for signing up in the first place but I can't see the spineless FA doing that.

They still need to face harsh sanctions for signing up in the first place but I can't see the spineless FA doing that. United and Arsenal need to be punished for the next 5 years to make it impossible to achieve anything in european terms which would result in devaluing the franchise and maybe bring each club back towards a fans ownership as these two were clearly the driving force.
