Can’t see him being Johansen’s replacement, he’d have to be pretty special to be the main man in the middle of the park for QPR at 22 y/o. Hope you are right.

I hope Johansen is going to QPR, if he’s not the club will need someone with experience and a proven record at Championship level. Don’t think Chaz Austin would’ve signed otherwise.

I agree, and like others on here have suggested Dozzell could learn a lot from stefan J before eventually playing first fiddle.

I don't even really know where he plays. Is he a deep lying playmaker like Johansen or Carroll, or does he play a little further up the pitch? in the interview he describes himself as a box-to-box midfielder but mainly played deeper at ipswich. their fans seem to think he could do better further up the pitch though. we like players who can fill in at different roles so it makes sense. although he seems a bit of a stefan replacement (by the sounds of it to me at least) Probably need at least 1 more central midfielder in my opinion. That, a couple of wing backs and a back up keeper and we look in good shape.

PS - anyone know how to pronounce his name? Is it, 1) Dozzle 2) Dozz-elle 3) Doe-zelle 4) Doe-zzle 5) Something completely different...? Duz-e-ell!

I've got a feeling he'll be like Amos or Carroll. Certainly doesnt score goals if his record is anything to go by.
Another player who we just need to develop, which I'm all for.

He'll be a decent replacement for Carroll if he can stay fit. Given he's done both ACL's now, I'd assume he may need to alter his playing style a bit. He's a good enough footballer to do it though. May just have to learn to sit a bit rather than go box to box. Faurlin did similar after his 2nd knee injury I think.

Love him. faurlin was incredible for us. never quite the same after his first major injury but was still arguebly our best midfielder and had undoubted quality when he played. sad for him as he was certainly too good for us at his best and should have been a regular in the prem. we never did replace him except for 6 months last season when stefan came in.

From what I can tell he's only had 1 red in his professional career mate. Seems to get booked a lot though.

i wouldn't mind a 433 with dozzell, field and amos in the middle although it could be argued that we could do with another better CM. i think johansen should be more of a squad player given his age. dozzell has potential but needs minutes, i really hope beale can bring that out of him

I work with an Ipswich fan. Says they were also talking about Dozzell's "potential" for. a number of seasons.

Dozzell looked better when he was being played more. Plus had to adjust to a new league and club so I think we'll see a better version of him.
He can pick a pass (his assist for Gray vs Cardiff was pass of the season for me) so he has the ability. He just needs to decide if he's an attacking player of a deep, defending player (carrick style, of sitting in front of defence and then setting the tempo rather than just sideways like Carrol)

This could be a make or break season for AD. Hopefully the former. Looks like he has potential to me.

Dozzell really should be operating as more of a central midfield playmaker although I don't think he's good enough at this level, from what I've seen. Are you not more hopeful he has the potential to come good under Beale?

Not really sure Stan. How long do you give these players with "potential"?
My Ipswich mate says for multiple seasons they've been saying that this is the year Dozzell will really start making an impact but it never happened.
Looks like another Tom Carroll to me. Does bits and pieces really well but rarely strings together a 90 minute performance or truly influences a game. I'd of course love to be proven wrong though.

Too often Warburton seemed to fill the midfield with shirts and just see what happens. Amos is another who will benefit from clear guidance instead of being used all over the place.

This nowadays a regular starter has earned only two thread pages. Anyone has anything good to say about him?

Not sure. Lost confidence because Beale brought his own players in? The abilty is there, but maybe time to leave together with Amos and Thomas. Sad ending, but would suit dutch football imo.

Fuck him off. Terrible player and an absolute pussy with it. Lightweight, quiet and hides. Another brilliant signing 2 bob player who offers fuck all. Another top drawer effort from Les and the head of recriutment. For a team that is supposed to buy cheap and sell for a profit here is another example of the incredible work that our D.O.F and recruitment have done.
