Sell on fee definitely not gone and I cannot understand why a buy out clause would expire either Palace wiser than what we were. If Remy's buy out clause had expired two weeks before deadline day we could have stayed in the Premier League for one season longer. See the point but do you think Remy would have stayed with us regardless of the buy out clause. At least we got a reasonable fee as opposed to keeping a disgruntled player who had been refused the opportunity to play in European competition

But if player progresses and status increases the buyout clause may be well below there new actual value which is to the clubs detriment. Clause is for benefit of the player how I see it as a club can accept or reject any offer or bid if there is no clause.

Had to look up all these terms as it's getting confusing lol
Sell-on Clause A percentage of the profit from a future transfer that QPR gets if Palace sells the player to another club
Buy-out Clause A specific amount set in a player's contract that allows the player to leave the club if another club meets that price. It's mandatory for the club to accept the offer if the clause is triggered.
Release Clause Similar to a buy-out clause but usually applies in specific circumstances, like relegation or a certain date, allowing the player to leave for a pre-agreed fee.

But the clause does give the club extra backing to play hard ball and tell a player that his buy out clause value has not been met so he is not going anywhere.

Just don’t accept a bid therefore you’re not going anywhere and knuckle down

A buy-out clause provides the player with a clear and fair pathway to move if another club values them highly enough. This ensures the player's career mobility and freedom.
Setting a buy-out clause at a level that reflects the player’s potential future value can also protect the selling club from losing a valuable asset for less than they’re worth. Regularly reviewing and potentially adjusting the clause based on the player's performance could also help maintain fairness.

In my view buy out clause (something Eze side would negotiate) different to sell on clause (something we negotiate in sale) Perhaps Eze agreement with palace is release clause for set period if no one breaches it expires then any offers are in hands of Palace to agree or reject. I always thought the buy out clause was a protection for both the player and he club. In Eze's case he would be protected in that if he progressed and say Real Madrid offered the buy out amount Palace would be guaranteed at the least the buy out amount and Eze could not be prevented from moving to further his career. In general that would mean a better balance between club and player power. If the buy out clause lasts for the whole contract it does not avoid the Willock type situation of Eze running down his contract. The only potential loser with the buy out clause is us. If no-one matches the clause and Eze runs down his contract we get nothing from the sell on clause or if Palace sell him cut price with a year or 6 months on his contract we get less. Buying out contract wise is not restricted to the world of football. Essentially West is correct, although of course anyone can provide funding for your buy out, should they choose to do so. The sell on is normally negotiated at the initial point of sale, and you hope that whoever negotiated that for QPR had his head screwed on. Tight.

Saw this Jimmy. Surprised at the lack of interest.
Hopefully it don’t harm us long term 😬

Not sure why Parish is so surprised. A 60m release clause was always very punchy. Now that release clause is history it’s possible in the next two windows there might be interest if Palace are open to slightly more realistic offers.

I think clubs thought Eze was overpriced
I also think this too
45-50 million
Clubs are very wary now due to Ffp
Parish also pissed he didn’t sell him
Cashing in on assets then he will sell imho

It looks as if the buy out clause will be re-instated at £68 million.

All very strange - at the start of the window Palace were saying their top priority was to keep Eze - maybe just talking up the fee to reach the buy out clause.
Now in January there is no buy out clause which means Eze cannot force a move but also takes the pressure of the 60 million number off the table and clubs may come in and Palace could sell for say 40 million.
Re-instating the buy out clause next summer I think is the club saying come and get him now - otherwise Eze's remaining contract is one year less than this year so unless he burns up the PL this season in theory his transfer value will drop and even reaching the point where clubs may think he will run down his contract if he wants to stay in London.
Pity that all this contract clause chatter is detracting from what should be the real debate as whether he should be a regular starter for England. Certainly at least should be a regular from the bench.

Wail may have got a slight whiff of something. Wouldnt surprise me if a top club has got an ‘understanding’ already in place. Salah, Silva, de Bruyne all in their last seasons where they are?

BBC ‘Gossip’ section suggesting Man U are monitoring Eze ahead of a possible move for him next Summer.
Also that Liverpool are considering Eze to replace Salah, if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

I think there is a good chance it'll be like rats off a sinking ship at City next summer if this court case is looking like it ain't going their way. I'd love to see Eze replace Salah at Liverpool. He ain't there yet though. Would need a big season to justify that in my opinion.

It would help if Carsley gave him a decent amount of time for England. I thought the way Carsley handled the substitutions v Ireland was as bad as anything under Southgate, limiting Eze to a meaningless and demeaning 13 minutes, when it was clear subs should have been brought on from at least the 60th minute. The game was clearly over in the first half. It was a great opportunity to let players who weren't in the starting 11 show what they could do and he totally wasted it. Who waits until the 77th minute to make their first sub these days, in a game as one-sided as this was?

I mean arguably them boots are too big to fill lol Eze not at that level but then again not many in world football are. I reckon Liverpool could do a lot worse than Eze though.

Yeah, I agree mate. But I think with Salah looking likely to go at the end of the season, I'd assume Liverpool will need to bring in a proper marquee signing, both for morale and to fill the gaps in terms of goals and assists they'll lose when Salah goes. I just wonder whether they might look for a bigger name than Eze. I also wonder how a humble guy who's typically played at smaller clubs like Eze would handle the pressure of effectively replacing Salah.

Yea good point you raise at the end, the expectation around joining a club like that with the demands it brings has seen many a very promising player underwhelm hasn't it.

Genuinely not knocking the guy, I think he's brilliant. I'd also love to see him land a big money move to Liverpool and smash it up there. Just highlighting some reasons I could see Liverpool going a different way.
