i don't think eze could replicate anywhere close to what salah does for liverpool tbh. vastly different players, eze is more creative and gets double figures with goals but he hasn't got that ruthlessness and strikers instinct that salah does.
eze would be a great fit for utd though imo.

It would help if Carsley gave him a decent amount of time for England. I thought the way Carsley handled the substitutions v Ireland was as bad as anything under Southgate, limiting Eze to a meaningless and demeaning 13 minutes, when it was clear subs should have been brought on from at least the 60th minute. The game was clearly over in the first half. It was a great opportunity to let players who weren't in the starting 11 show what they could do and he totally wasted it. Who waits until the 77th minute to make their first sub these days, in a game as one-sided as this was? First game for Carsley and above all else, you wanna get your result on the board. You don't want to risk fucking it up. Mission accomplished. Let him get his feet under the table. His record with the U21s at least merits that. Disclaimer is that I didn't see any of it due to brief but memorable visit to Viking land DK and returned in the middle of last night so maybe spouting more bollox than usual.

Glad you posted that disclaimer mate; I watched the whole game. A more one-sided contest you would be hard pushed to find. I absolutely take on board the safety-first approach in Carsley's first game, but the result was beyond doubt after the second goal went in. Plus, plenty of the players were visibly tiring at 60 minutes and they really should have been substituted. He had more than capable players on the bench.

Concede one though, their fans get behind the team and so on. As Hal said, the Carsley is basically auditioning so a clean sheet away from home is the way to do that. Not a nervy 2-1.
Of course, subs could have made it 3 but you never know. Hopefully see an exciting game tonight with pace and creativity. We have the players.
And not sure who said it, but Eze would never be a replacement for Salah. Very hard for anyone to replace him but Salah plays right, Eze has never played right.

Me, and not suggesting a straight replacement but top teams rebuild when they replace big players and play accordingly. Haaland is no Aguero.

Copenhagen or somewhere more obscure? Yup, Copenhagen and to the North - Charlottenlund and the Louisiana Gallery area nr Humlebaek. Incredible, 27 degrees every day until the day we left. Swam every day, good time every night. Basically a long weekend as one of Madame Hal's arty mates was having a big 60th bash in Christiania. Happily for me also coincided with a run of 5000 motorcycles up the coast road, apparently happens every year. Everything actually worked, good infrastructure, clean environment, plus they how to have a good time.

I've got some mad tales of Christiania... managing a rock band back in the early 90s, we stayed there for about 8 days, in their guest house, which was shaped like a banana, and unsurprisingly, called the Bananahuset. Copenhagen back then was brilliant. Would like to go back some time. But I realise we are digressing....

The mc thing happens every year, as you say, spring and fall, when the amusement park 'Bakken' opens and closes. Beautiful area north of Copenhagen, yes. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.🍻

Let's have it hubble. Love digressions. Especially about my 'local' area. What band? Maybe I was there. Did they play at Loppen?

Let's have it hubble . Love digressions. Especially about my 'local' area. What band? Maybe I was there. Did they play at Loppen? Haha, well, since you asked: yes, we did play Loppen, that was the last gig. The band was called The Thunderdogs and I think it was 1993, but possibly 1994. We also played Ungdomshuset, which we sold out, and where the management tried to rip me off, but I called their bluff. And we played one other venue, I think, but I can't remember where.
In Christiania there was a dealer called Kenny who made it his mission to get every single member of the band completely trollyed with his legendary chillum. This happened over the course of a week, and each band member got so stoned it became known as "getting Kennyed". But I managed to evade him until the last night, at Loppen. Once the gig was over Kenny came backstage and just as I was about to get very friendly with this gorgeous waitress whom I'd met at Ungdomshuset, he stuck the chillum in my face and I had no choice but to take a huge hit. Things went very sideways from that moment onwards. I was so completely off my face that I had to leg it from Loppen and into the mad Christiania night. I managed to evade some marauding vikings by hiding in a hedge, somehow made it back to the Bananahuset and then went off on a trip that was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life. Needless to say, I lived to tell the tale, just.

Great story hubble. I've had similar experiences at Christiania back in the day, but can't say I remember the band, or Kenny for that matter. Although I went to a lot of gigs back then at both Ungdomshuset and Loppen early 90's. Maybe the third venue was Stengade 30? Either way thanks for bringing back good memories.🍻

It was clearly their sneaky little trick, because when the Thunderdogs went back a few years later, with a different manager, they pulled the same stunt again, and this time, the bloke fell for it.
The Thunderdogs, for lovers of music trivia, featured Seeweed on keyboards and Gav Griffiths on guitar, both of whom were also members of Ozric Tentacles at various times, as well as The Ullulators and Eat Static. The Thunderdogs were also the in-house band for Circus Archaos, who were possibly the first truly alternative circus troupe, and they toured Europe with them, including a 2-week stint in (at the time derelict) Battersea Power Station.

I used to work with a guy that was a big Ozric Tentacles fan. Nice fella, bit odd. Devout Buddhist who very clearly did way too many psychedelics. Not judging, I do them too, but this dude had clearly done so much of the stuff that it sent him a bit weird.

Used to hang out with hang out with Ozrics drummer Nick Van Gelder back in the day through mutual musician friends. Remember one very memorable gig at the old Kilburn National Club. He eventually left them to join Jamiroquai.

And funnily enough, it was a lovely young lad called Stu, son of Danny Spannerman (sax player in the Thunderdogs) who became Jamiroquai's bass player.... And most of them lived on the famous* Pullens Estate in Kennington/Walworth which was just along the Road from where Michael Caine grew up. Not a lot of people know that.
I think we all interconnect eventually.
* famous for being one of the amazing squatters' success stories in the 80s.

Yes Hubs, six degrees of separation and all that. Brand New Heavies were also a connection between all three of the bands' members.

I logged on the other day to see how many we had sold and I was disappointed to see large areas of unsold tickets.
They sold their 3k in about half an hour. Shame if we can't get a decent crowd for this (relative) cup run.

Imagine we'll sell more once the weekend game is out of the way.
I think that if this was the FA cup, it would have sold more. Also, if Palace were at home, we would have sold out the away end as well, pretty easily.
Im not going to the home game but probably would have tried to get to the away game.

He's not clinical enough to be world class. love the bloke. i'm only 31 so didn't grow up with the same heros as many on here but he's one of the most gifted players i've ever seen alongside taarabt. treated us with respect, put on a show every time and is an all round lovely bloke too. what's not to love?! he didn't even celebrate when he scored against us in the cup that adorable bastard!
