Wtf! Armstrong has two pages longer thread than Willock and hasn't even kicked the ball yet! Amazing isn't it. Especially when you consider Donkey Dykes has a staggering 26 pages devoted to him.

Mainly dog's abuse - consumer research shows people are around 8 times more likely to write and complain than to praise... I think Lyndon will show improvement this season. Good to see Armstrong signed until 2024, with a club option for a further year. Not that I've seen him play, but he just looks such an intimidating beast of a striker!

It seems that MB does see Armstrong as part of the first team squad.

Bit strange that Sparks. I'm not sure I buy it. Even if not fully fit, Armstrong could have travelled and trained with the first team.
Feels more to me like a challenge. Prove to the boss you really are ready to make the step up etc.

yeah we're talking about a guy who didn't exactly set the world on fire at Aldershot or Torquay.... Man City my arse, remember that rumour?
Plus we still don't have a credible striker at this level. That's the bit that worries me.

4 goals in 11 games at non league level Hal, that’s an ok stat for an 18 or 19yr old ?

The thing is he's completely unproven at this level, which would be absolutely fine if any of our other strikers had a decent championship mpg ratio. They don't. That Geordie lad who played for Joey last term and who you rightly flagged up on here is 100% the type of attacking player we should be begging NUFC to loan out again. He'd do more damage at this level than any of our strikers.

He's old enough to at least get on the bench so we'll see if Mick picks him. In the end that's the only way we'll find out ie when push comes to shove.

I think the lad has been over-hyped because of our desperation for a decent striker.

Corbs, I don't doubt he's got talent. I just wonder whether his ego needs managing a bit. Probably isn't a good thing for a player to have his agent playing passing bullshit stories to the press to try and stimulate a contract discussion before he's even kicked a ball for the 1st team.

MB on Armstrong:

Interesting. He is basically saying that one of our existing strikers will want to leave because they are not being picked. He more or less said Armstrong was in his plans so that suggests he wants to off load either Dyches or Bonne if he can bring in another striker. Whether that striker is a loan or buy he slightly contradicted himself - said he was against loans as it kicked the problem down the road but also said Premier League clubs had taken a lot of their young talent off on foreign tours until this week, implying he is waiting on one of those.

Very early days but I’m not convinced on his ball control/first touch, like his shoot on sight attitude.
Looks like he could play up top alone.

His little cameo last night was really good. Powerful and quick, clearly confident, he immediately panicked defenders into errors. Needs to play. Let’s see how good he is.

Surprised by how quick he was. Could be very good impact sub end of games to rough up tired defences whilst he builds up his experience and confidence

Scared the life out of them last night. If your good enough your old enough. Certainly more effective in the first 2 minutes than bonne was all night.
