Not sure if he's a scorer. Should have put the header in the net. How he missed that? Has missed a couple of other chances too. Very young, very inexperienced, lots of pressure already. Been thrown in at the deep end. Positively he’s getting chances and showing he’s got a bit. Goals will come on this showing.

I wrote very early in this thread I saw Armstrong have a promising first half for the U23s but in the second half I wrote he’d run out of gas.
If there’s anything that MB should be trusted with its mentoring Armstrong game time imo, in his recent loans tellingly he was mainly used as an impact sub.
Although difficult to quantify Armstrong has been out injured quite regularly, this aligns with MB thoughts on being careful not to break him.

He will get injured if he’s just given a brief spell at the end of a game because he hasn’t got long to make an impression. Play him for a half at least, give him a chance to get warmed up properly and get into the game. I don’t see 15 minutes of mayhem as mentoring him carefully.

He looked very promising and above all had energy and drive which virtually everyone else lacked. But oddly he looked knackered even for that brief period. As Sparks alludes too, not sure he is developed enough physically yet to do a full 90 mins. There is also a danger of investing too much hope/ expectation in him simply because Dykes is so bad.

Didn’t MB decide to leave him out of the Germany tour for similar reasons ie trying to hard and picking up a knock?
I’m of a similar opinion to you to start him but happy at this point to trust MB implicitly with his previous background on development.

Didnt look knackered at Charlton after 30 minutes of bullying their back four.
I just cannot watch Dykes do fuck all anymore. Won about 2 headers all night last night and that was it.

I have been in a v small minority of "give him a chance" but last night was an all time low with him. Can't see anyone wanting to buy him now alas.

If he’s not developed physically then I don’t know what is Stains. His problem is going mental for 10 mins and not getting chance to pace himself. That would make anyone look knackered.

When I’ve watched U21 games they lack any sort of intensity that you may see in comparison to a league game, they can be quite boring to watch as it’s mostly played at testimonial pace.
Big difference between being a fit athlete and being match fit to play 90mins in the Championship for a young lad imo.

Bringing in a new striker will only do Sinclair good imo. Agree. Take the pressure off him & let him develop at a pace the management & coaching team see fit rather than having to be thrown in the deep end with all of our expectations on his shoulders due to Dykes being turd.

Yes, would be nice to bring him on 3-0 up and coasting (do we ever coast?😁) then he can get some confidence going rather than feel he’s failed because we needed that header to go in.

McCullough said on the latest podcast that apparently he was originally a winger, which would explain why Beale has to keep barking out positional instructions to him; and also why he appears to be less of a natural finisher.

On today’s showing night as well try him up front - better than watching Roberts giving the ball away and falling over
