Have to say, I like Chris Ramsey... so I found a couple of locals who reflect our transfer policy in recent years...

Honourable, loyal, does things the 'right way' in my mind. I was always HUGELY disappointed/angry at the way fans turned on him when he was manager - he copped a load of really vile abuse. So much so, I was amazed he wanted to stay on in a different role. Whether he's absolutely the very best in his role, I don't know (do we deserve/can we afford the very best...?), but I do think it's people like him who keep the club 'decent' and give it heart.

Why mate? What has he done for us? Can't help liking the guy. Im sure he's a lovely bloke, but you still have to put the form in the book. Whatever his role has been, he has not done that. We don't need to replace him, he's another example of our excess, underperforming baggage. Also, like our director of fuckups, he's very much associated with our unfortunate, non productive THFC love in. He should go, and others should be joining him on the way out.

Fair enough, but I think you’re the loyal one - he’s on easy street. If he was honourable then, like Les, he should resign. Agree totally about how he was treated badly when thrown in at deep end and he probably stayed because he’s on a good wedge for doing not a fat lot. Is he the best in his role? What is his role exactly? I know what he’s called but what does he DO? For me he’s another one robbing us and taking us nowhere.

So we sell first team players and keep the D.O.F and his mate Ramsey. Only at this shambles of a football club. Can now see why Ainsworth was brought in and will be kept regardless of how he does.

Got to say I'm 70-30 in favour of Chris Ramsey.
I like him and It's gotta be fair to say his hands are massively tied trying to recruit never mind develop young players who we hope will transition into the first team.
QPR are not an attractive proposition for young players at all. There are so many other better clubs, better equipped, better base for youngsters to start from than us. He can't demand young footballers come to QPR, he can just work with what we get through the door which is usually players that have already had the rule ran over them from pretty much all the other bigger and better London clubs who deemed them not at the standard they require. It really is a thankless role.
Hopefully the new training ground / facilities will get some youngsters heads turned.

I think there is a lot of truth in that and some of the fanbase have a very simplified view of how challenging all aspects of the business are for a club like us, including developing players. That said, given all the challenges, I don't understand why the club doesn't narrow its ambitions and forget about the very young players and focus on young-ish players dropped by the big clubs - I get that no parent (unless a supporter) is going to push their 9-year-old to start with us rather than Chelsea (or even Brentford now). But like for eg the young midfielder we picked up from Liverpool last season - this is the sort of player Ramsey should IMHO be developing into a first teamer, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Is it because a) he was never good enough b) we are not doing enough to improve him or c) successive managers have been so focused on the next match that they have been risk averse in trying the youngsters?

He didn’t have much of a career as a player and I’m not sure he’s got much on his CV since he was involved with FA youth twenty odd years ago so I can’t help thinking he’s only here because he’s Les’ mate. Technical Director - us playing at being Man City when we’re more like Salford City.

If you mean Dixon-Bonner you pose a very good question. No youngster, he’s 22 so should have ‘developed’ sufficiently to have got a run out for our lot they way they played at times. What’s he doing here? Why did we bring him in? Why S D-M? Why Masterson? Why Kelman? If we are going to bring in players to develop shouldn’t we be making better decisions? Tech Dir? DOF? Head of Rec? Coach/mngr? Too many Chiefs, not enough native Americans.

Technical Director - us playing at being Man City when we’re more like Salford City. he was head of spurs academy (or near enough) for 10 years during which the likes of harry kane came through. i don't doubt his credentials and personally feel like he's done a good job in his role. we've certainly brought through more players or developed them since he came in. his biggest issues are that we're financially hamstrung and cat 1 academies coming in to poach our players. plus the fact that aside from eze, les has done some terrible business in regards to player sales

Wouldn't be surprised if it's true.
For a 'Gold' new season ticket holder @£651pa, over the three years it's worth more than £1,900 for a week's work, albeit nights.
For an existing 'Gold' ST holder @£572, it's worth over £1,700.
So if the painters are ST holders, or interested in being ST holders, it's not a bad deal.
Looks a bit 'desperate' by the club, but then with all the FFP stuff always in mind and the Eze money dropping out of the accounts for FFP, perhaps the club IS a bit desperate...
