We are now entering "be careful what you wish for" time. Agree that Ferdinand quote all but confirms Warbs will go. I for one will miss him as it was under Warbs that it seemed to me QPR broadly speaking was being well managed for the first time since Warnock (and even Warno had major faults like not focusing on youth development). Stand by for outraged howls when we are being linked, not with Jurgen Klopp who of course would love to manage QPR IF ONLY THE BOARD WOULD SHOW SOME AMBITION AND PROMISE TO BUY A STRIKER, and instead a mixture of has-beens, never-beens and complete shot-in-the-dark might be good in the future lower league managers we haven't heard of. True, but I firmly believe we are about to enter the downward slide of the MW rollercoaster again. I think it will be a very difficult league next season as a lot of clubs have got their act together since the upheaval and whether it’s Leeds, Burnley or Everton coming down I bet there will only be play-offs to aim for. There’s a risk going for someone with different ideas and if it slaps us in the mouth the MW fans will make the most of it, but it’s got to be done. It's certainly true that this season's championship has been one of the poorest in years, in terms of quality. Looking at some of the teams above us will tell you that. So yes, in that sense it has been a golden opportunity wasted.

Is Chris Hughton still out of a job? I hope not... First name I thought of too 🤦🏻♂️ Exactly why I was of the opinion we should be careful what we wish for when the Warbs out stuff started (justifiably). Would love Farke or Dyche but we will end up with Hughton. I'd put money on it.

We need a better squad for anyone to take over. We been lacking in depth, creativity and goals.

I think there was an opportunity to test how far we have come. Next season there is a long break mid way through the season, that would be the proper time to asses MW and whether he has learnt from this season. If I had been running things I’d have given MW until mid season next season and pull the trigger then if needed, now seems a very risky time to make a change with a largely settled squad.

I certainly wouldn't "make the most of it" - I'm a QPR fan and will back whoever we appoint. I would hope the board and DoF have - from a low base - improved their recruitment skills. If so I will be absolutely delighted to eat humble pie. But their record is - and I'm trying to be generous here - mixed. As for Warbs, I hope fans will also be generous in their send off and remember his whole tenure, not just the last couple of months. Its a bit chicken and egg who is responsible for our tail off as accept the manager must take ultimate responsibility but a combination of injuries and some players just not performing at all (it was Fernandez, for eg, who insisted on signing Austin to the delight of virtually all our fans). We have the 7th cheapest squad in the Championship and so when we were in the play off places we were massively over-achieving. Totally accept we have under-achieved the last couple of months, even relative to that modest budget but lets not pretend we are on anything like a level playing field with the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth, West Brom and even Huddersfield and Foreset.

I find it a bit strange that he says he doesn’t expect to be staying as otherwise contract talks would have started by now. Not the greatest way for the club to communicate we are not renewing his contract if that’s true.

Stains, I wasn’t suggesting posters on here who, in the main, debate points very well. As for over achieving, isn’t that the idea of sport? We had the points on the board because we won those points. Getting a nose bleed at altitude isn’t going to get you anywhere.

Who knows, they may be asking around and if they are getting knockbacks they may decide to stick.

But if that were true then Marbs and WLS wouldn't be saying "he doesn't expect to be here next season", I'd have thought. It would be being expressed more ambiguously.

Whoever comes in I hope that they make our defence and keeper a solid unit
So many stupid goals went on where we were 1-0 down in the first 10 minutes joke
Defensive stability nd clean sheets is the way forward totally
Also revert back to wingers like Forest have they destroyed us playing this way

Dykes long run as our non scoring striker is now hopefully over shortly
Mw will still pick him for the last two games though to show us that he has undoubtly lost the plot

Lot of people on twitter really unhappy with this decision
They are saying it’s a bad move but we haven’t been great for a long time if we are honest
Big pressure on the board now again
