He does not move his feet and when he does it is as if they ars stuck in quick sand. Good keeper back in the day and a poor one right now.

We ended the season with 4 keepers out of contract, plus juniors Cant (also out of contract) and the good prospect Salamon. Archer and Cant have been released. Walsh & Mahoney new contracts / extended - no announcement about the injured Mahoney but he is on our contracted / retained list. And today Salamon has signed a new contract - and that is good news based on what I have seen of him. Just leaves Begovic. That is a lot of goalkeeping business, but remains to be seen what the pecking order will be for next season. I somehow think that Begovic will stay - but the window opens tomorrow, so we shall see.

Whos next then as our keeper Important role ideally rodak lol but that's doubtful. walsh looked decent at coventry though, is 22 so it's now or never and we could reinvent the funds into more important areas.

I think that’s called a Freudian slip👍 We’ve been reinventing our finances for ages.

I’d give it to Walsh. Very highly rated and done well on last day. Certainly looks competent, good size, great age. He’s not a child time to step up and make the role his own. Done well out on loan. Let’s give him a chance

Murphy Mahoney new contract announced today. This is probably old news as he was on the retained list but saved for our daily digest. So three young keepers all extended. At least one going out on loan I would think, but which one?

Right decision. Done a job for us - made some vital saves tbf to him, but also some clangers (Stoke away still haunts me). Clearly not comfortable playing out (old dogs new tricks n all that), so a good decision for both parties. Thanks Asmir but bye bye. Hoping we have our eye on somebody else to come in as, tbh, nto convinced any of our other current keepers are good enough to be no1.

The best part of the fanbase feel the same - thanks and goodbye. Marti telling him that he will no longer be number one shows that the manager feels the same but could not throw in an untried younger man. Be interesting to see who will be loaned out as we have 3 young keepers who all have potential. If we sign Nardi, he will presumably start as first choice, but who will be the one to bench warm and challenge him? But yeah, I was getting worried that Asmir was going to stay for another season, and I certainly did not want that.

Came in and done a job, not a spectacular job but after good one nonetheless. We've definitely had worse. Right decision not to resign him though. Good luck to him, honest pro 👍

If Nardi does well, then Walsh will stagnate on the bench. If Nardi struggles or picks up another bad injury, then you need your second best to step up. The reports of Salaman are encouraging, but it would not surprise me if we loan out Mahoney again. I guess Marti and Ward will do a lot of monitoring during pre-season.

Meanwhile Archer gets a 2 year deal at Portsmouth. How the hell does he do that? Remaining in the Championship as a permanent bench warmer. Must have a fantastic agent.

Gavin Ward has departed by mutual consent. Another coach bites the dust. I wonder if Begovic will come in as coach...

Fine by me if Marti needs to gradually bring in his own staff.
Think he's only brought in Xavi Calm to date.
Good to know he's making his own stamp in fact.

Ward was responsible for defence set pieces which we have been shit at for years. Always baffled me when people dug out Hall why ward was never mentioned as he’s been here through all the shit and well involved.

Andrew Sparkes now gets the goalkeeping coach job permanently. www.qpr.co.uk/news/2024/july/02/andrew-sparkes-named-head-of-goalkeeping/I suppose you could say that even Begovic improved towards the end of the season - from a pretty low base of course. But the payoff to Gavin Ward delayed and announced on the 1st July, the first day of a new FFP year. We must run it incredibly tight now.

CEO Christian Nourry said: "The creation of this role is an important step in achieving methodological alignment across our goalkeeping department, for both the women's and men's teams.
“I am delighted that Andrew will continue to work with us going forward. He is a highly-respected professional in this area who wants to further hone his ideas to ensure that we become hyper-productive in the goalkeeping part of the football club." Some of the best Nourry speak of all time. I will attempt to decode: Gavin Ward had to undergo surgery, and so Marti wanted Anrew Sparkes to cover. Marti rates Sparkes higher than Ward and wanted to keep him. So we created a new more senior position of Head of Goalkeeping and told Gavin Ward that when he returned, he would be expected to report into the new position. After 9 years of being the top man, Ward found that untenable, and so we had a chat, and agreed a consensual termination employment package, but we had to delay the outcome and payment until the new financial year, for FFP reasons. We probably won't fill Gavin's old position now. Classic how to get rid of someone when prepared to pay them off.

Nardi looks solid thus far on limited data (WBA aside). Decent keeper hopefully. Great to have Walsh as the backup. He made some terrific saves at the end of last season.

Personally think Walsh is better. Was out standing against Coventry last season and was brilliant in first round of the cup this season. Think has has been harshly treated.

Now that I have the endorsement from an assassin, I can venture the opinion that by the end of the season Walsh will be our number one.

think it's still far too early to say anything of nardi tbh. distribution and ball control has been decent (far better than begovic lol). conceded a few but can't be blamed for any of them, could have maybe done better for the whittiker goal but it is what it is.
looked cracking during preseason.
