I like this post from a Wolves forum:- I completely agree. If nothing else, before even talking with Jeff I think it looks extremely poor of him to jump ship from QPR so early. I understand that in football people’s stock can rise and fall quickly so there’s a case for making hay while the sun shines, but this would seem very abrupt. So he would have to be ultra confident that he would not fall flat on his face by joining us - which with a team where we are and with the record we have this season - is not a given. I guess the counter argument is that that’s never a given and for him to get a PL job it would either be for a situation like ours, or he’d have to earn his stripes abroad in a top league and then land a PL job at a higher level than us. So then it comes down to the ‘sell’ from Jeff. Given the drivel we have heard from him, the utter lack of any coherent strategy for the club despite all the jumbled rhetoric, and the meddling that appears to go on through Uncle Jorge’s involvement, I wouldn’t touch us with a bargepole. If I was Beale, I would stick where he is and continue his journey at QPR and earn his stripes as a No 1. Of course money talks and maybe that’s enough to sway him - that would be a bit short sighted I would have thought. And let’s not discount that he might be an esports fan or have a passion for promoting local musical talent, in which case we are home and hosed. good post that

Are managers wages included in ffp or is it just the playing staff? If not, what’s stopping our billionaire owners from matching the Alsatians offer? i don't believe it does. thats how derby were able to bring in rooney on big wages as they had him registered as a player-coach.

I think it is pretty obvious I am talking about him. It would seem to be his decision. Sorry, it wasn't obvious to me mate. He always seems quite open with the media, which could be showing inexperience there. But it's certainly a refreshing approach of someone who seems very confident in himself.

So how does having his phone off stop him shutting it down? If he felt the need to turn phone off because of the noise around wolves then you knew there was something to shutdown? That’s just common sense to me? Accept your taking him at face value but I don’t believe that for one minute same way I don’t believe there has been contact in background with wolves unofficial via him or agent. Football is arguably one of the dirtiest businesses out there. Why shut it down its good for us as a club, its good for him as an individual.

I’m certain I read Man City were fined for under the table payments to Mancini to get around FFP rules.

We can agree to disagree about the phone stuff, as he just doesn't strike me as someone who'd blatantly lie about it (and it's not even a white lie), but in the other thread you say (re the offish interview): good interview and lots of talk of WE and looking ahead. Don’t sound like a man in the verge of departing Which I'm in full agreement with you about.

BEALE DEAL Wolves make official approach for QPR boss Michael Beale as Aston Villa’s former assistant set for Premier League job Natasha Everitt 20th October 2022, 10:42 am Updated: 20th October 2022, 10:44 am Wolves have now formally approached Queens Park Rangers for permission to speak to their manager Michael Beale.
Beale was only appointed by QPR in the summer, signing a three-year contract at Loftus Road to succeed Mark Warburton, and he has the Hoops sitting top of the Championship after 15 games.
Beale looks to have managed his last game for QPR
GETTY 2 Beale looks to have managed his last game for QPR But Wednesday night’s 3-0 victory over Cardiff at Loftus Road could now be his final match at the helm.
Wolves have made Beale their number one target to become their new manager following the departure of Bruno Lage and talks are set for Thursday.
Wolves owner Jeff Shi has spoken with both Peter Bosz and former manager Nuno Espirito Santo since sacking Lage at the start of October.
But Beale is his preferred choice and it is understood the 42-year-old is keen on making the switch to Molineux too.
Beale can speak Portuguese from his time at Sao Paulo, which will pose as a real benefit given the large number of Portuguese stars in the Wolves squad.
Wolves have won just two of their 11 games this season and are sitting a point above the relegation zone, having lost to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.
QPR can do little to prevent Beale leaving as the former Liverpool coach has a release clause in his contract.
Beale has guided QPR up top spot in the Championship, winning eight of his 15 games in charge, and earning praise for his style of football.
It is his first managerial role, having previously served as assistant manager to Steven Gerrard at both Rangers and Aston Villa.
Beale was previously number two to Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa
GETTY 2 Beale was previously number two to Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa Beale is well regarded in the game with a reputation as a forward-thinking, progressive coach who has spent time at Chelsea, Liverpool and in Brazil with Sao Paulo.
Now he is poised for his first Premier League managerial job where he will become a Midlands rival of close pal Gerrard.
Following the 3-0 victory over Cardiff, Beale said: “I haven’t spoken to [director of football] Les Ferdinand or anyone, so nothing has changed.
“I took the decision to turn my phone off because we had this game to concentrate on. The moment Les speaks to me I’ll know one way or another. If an offer comes in officially, you don’t have to take it. You have to weigh up everything.
“It would be difficult to leave. Football is about feelings and relationships. We’ve built strong relationships here.
“It’s 100 per cent a dream of mine to manage in the Premier League. That’s not a secret.
“But it has to be the right opportunity, the right moment and the right club. And they would have to give me a really clear understanding of where that club is going.”

If MB rejects Wolves there’s obviously going to be another club coming along soon, the reported tiny £1m release fee is a big problem as It May not equate to compensation/salary for another manager.
Tough business decision would be to sell Willock/Chair if good offer comes in and offer MB an attractive new package which would include a more sensible release clause, any monies left over would be of benefit to transfer fund/FFP ceiling.

Easy to say Alan but why is MB position any different to making money on a player leaving?
It’s short sighted to allow any manager to leave for such a paltry sum in compensation.

He can ask why he wasn’t being offered more in the first place then but that’s market forces for you isn’t it? Get Prem and it will be spare change.

Maybe later as they have earned it No Bill. He had what they call a wash up with the development staff in the morning where they discuss where players are at, fitness, progress etc. That’s been cancelled and players asked to come in at a rearranged time. He’s going. Really

To be fair Tarbie why not draw your own conclusions instead of listening to so called itk idiots.
None of it made sense to me,that's why I openly said he will stay on a number of occasions.
Some of the abuse and comments are out of order To put it mildly imo

I didn't ask any "ITK Idiots" Bill. I asked a few people that genuinely know what's going on more often than not. I was genuinely surprised why they told me they thought he was going. I'd assumed there was not a chance of it happening until late yesterday afternoon.
As for the abuse, there wasn't any at the game, was there? A bit of ranting and tongue in cheek stuff about him liking a pie on here (and I was guilty of that), plus a few wankers letting off steam on Twitter.
Bottom line for me is there wasn't any need for the media circus that occurred. Beale could have nipped things in the bud 2-3 days earlier than he did. So his decision not to and his bed to lie in if he copped a bit of flack for it.
I'll add that I'm over the moon he's staying by the way.
