This is a massive risk and one this board have to get it right. If this guy bombs we fall away to oblivion. Personally not for me for the here and now. Also begs the question why are we doing it now after 9 months of the crap we just witnessed It's putting us back on the path tred by Warburton, Critchley and Beale which is the right one for this club. However, it's a huge gamble because we haven't got the squad those had and unless we're backing him in January it could seriously backfire. Going back on a path they took themself off by appointing Ainsworth. I wonder whose idea this is? Hoos? Bhatia or Ruben?

Whichever way you cut it, he's a massive upgrade on Frank Gallagher.

very strange appointment but i like how left field it is tbh. he seems to have a good pedigree. is he the right man? i don't know, warnock or eustace seemed like a safer pair of hands. but maybe having someone completely unaccustomed to the club with fresh ideas is whats needed right now.

Agree with this except the being backed in Jan line - he can't be backed as they can't spend. FFP now runs from Jan to Dec But our committed outgoings are clearly right on the edge already, by the reckoning of people who know a lot more than me, probably over

I’m more excited by Cifuentes than Warnock, it’s a tough ask to survive this season regardless who comes in. Thanks for your updates Shania. Don’t get this tbh we know nothing about this guy High risk We are playing Russian roulette with our future Just saying sparks not digging I’m not going to say anything more as I haven’t got a fucking clue about this bloke second from bottom and someone who has never played championship football

Also, this guy is at a club who are seventh in the table.
They’re not gonna let him go for free when they have to pay for a new man and his staff to come in surely? Again it puts queries over how much money we’ve got to spend.?

This guy of it is to be him needs to hit the ground running or this could be Critchley Mark 2. Longer term could be brilliant but short term you have to doubt.

Could be an absolute masterstroke.
Or an unmitigated disaster.
Who the f*** knows?
And quite how a pretty un-clued up board makes that decision - with bugger all football nouse between them - heaven knows.
In my ignorance, I'm just glad/relieved the Ainsworth pain is over (as much for him as for us) and we can move on, with a decent chunk of the season to pull things round.

Part of me is really glad we are back on that path as ultimately any sensible fan knows this is the only way to thrive and survive - but like you I would question whether mid-season almost bottom of the league with a massive attitude/ morale problem this is the right time. If he wins a game early doors and gets momentum it will be seen as a genius, brave appointment. But its only going to take two or three defeats in quick succession - and lets face it, we are good at that - this appointment could grow very toxic very quickly.

I know zero about this fella, never heard of him, but I am fully behind making such a move. Getting outside the usual manager merry go round. We all praise clubs like Brighton etc for their managerial appointments overseas so I am all for us following suit.
Don't get me wrong, I am sure Brighton (as an example) have a much more thought out strategy than us (I am picturing Lee Hoos blind folded and pointing at a country on a map then rolling a dice to decide who they go for) - but I am all for it lol

Trying to be positive mate as I am all negatived out this season ha!
Stainrod above is bang on though, get a quick start under us and will be hailed as genius move, but it won't take long for the vultures to circle if we continue to be shite...

I would have brought him in from start of next season, as have always thought we should go foreign. But not now - timing aint right, as much as I'd love to be proved wrong.

I still wouldn't rule out Warno tipping up at some point. Lets face it, fucking up is what we do so half a dozen defeats and the board might have to eat a large chunk of humble pie.
But as Matty says, we should try to be positive because its bloody miserable being, well, miserable. And its not this guy's fault he is inheriting a shit show. If it is him I hope the fan base gives him a chance. At least its not a brain dead, zombie appointment like Ainsworth was.

Again it puts queries over how much money we’ve got to spend.? according to the hammarby forum there's something 'not right' between the board and marti. most fans seem happy to see him go which is worrying though. their fans are suggesting that around a million would get him out of the deal BUT if there is indeed off field issues then i suspect it'll be much lower than that. otherwise their board will have to sack him and give him a payout so its a win win for all involved really. given our financial constraints and having just fired gaz i don't think we'd be foolish enough to go out and buy out a complete unknown unless it was a good deal for us. still concerning though, his lack of experience over here worries me but we've seen that work out in recent years anyway. maybe something is cooking up in sweden as potter and jon dahl have both done really well in england after starting out in sweden. like i said previously, i do like the left field option. its exciting tbh. i can't remember the last time we brought in a foreigner with no english experience. from what i've read about marti though he likes to play nice football, is an astute tactician and has a knack for unearthing players. if he keeps us up then great, but if we go down then maybe we have the man to rebuild the team.

Going by all the press reports it looks like the club interviewed Warnock and perhaps they couldn't reach agreement. Assume he'd have been 1st choice and this guy on the shortlist. They'd have been interviewing people over the last couple of days or even prior to Saturday.

Definitely not Hoos, so could only have been those other two or even Andy Belk as think he had some input into the Beale appointment. (Just noticed they've now put Paul Hall in temporary charge as 1st team coach.)

Gambling the clubs future on a bloke who knows very little about our pool of players. This bunch of players will give him 3 games and either believe in him or do what they did to Critchley

Sorry to spoil the party but I’m completly unconvinced by this appointment Like I was about Ainsworth that some were wanking over back then
Huge risk at a metal time in our future With owners who know fuck all about About football and football appointments
Hope I’m wrong really do but was correct on Gareth might I just say,
Again will judge on next 5 games as will the crowd in Loftus Road,
Here hoping he’s great

Last time we hired a completely unknown manager it was Luigi Di Canio. We were in a fair bit of trouble on the pitch then too, worked out pretty well for us. I've got everything crossed that it turns out like that with this Cifuentes bloke.
