Call it an educated guess Westy, based on all we have witnessed. in space of 12months we’ve gone from minimum expectation of play offs not being good enough to merely finishing 21st? I’m afraid I can’t accept that as the boards ambition. He’s set expectations from his interviews; perhaps he thought he was playing it down and taking pressure off but instead he’s totally deflated the ballon and disengaged the fan base. . Let’s not forget just matter of months ago he was saying we stay up and under him we won’t be in this position again. thats a fair point tbh. there's something wrong with the culture at the club and its even infected gaz' normally positive attitude. for all of ollie's 'failings' as a manager you know that if he was in charge of the club he'd be blind to the possibility of a relegation battle lol. gaz shouldn't be tempering the clubs ambitions as just "we'll give it our best shot and hopefully thats enough! " he should be swinging for the fucking rafters. he should be telling the players and fans to fight and get on with beating teams. foster an attitude that we're here to stay in the championship and we're going to scalp some teams this year. single out individual players in the media as stars of our team and get some belief back in the squad.

I still think Evil Les got frustrated and see the writing on the wall and that’s why he left.

I still think Evil Les got frustrated and see the writing on the wall and that’s why he left. Plus he wasn't a Gareth fanboy. Saw this one coming. That point Stan made about choosing to start Kelman and Smyth tells you what utter garbage we're gonna have to put up with.

He’ll be here all season no doubt in my mind. We’ll scrap to 20 points with the odd win and some dirty draws. At end of the season, it will be seen as satisfactory by Ainsworth, the club, Jeff Stelling, , Ian Holloway and certain people on other message boards. We’ll be told by them that this is all we should expect these days and we should be grateful to have such an experienced man as Ainsworth who “loves” the club. Yet most of us know different. We’re fucking qpr not the the Dog & Duck….not Wycombe either. We deserve better on and off the pitch. The question is will any of us have the bloody energy to complain anymore. His remit from the board is to keep us up this season. If he achieves that it'll be deemed mission accomplished from their POV. GA's job will only be under threat if we're relegated or if there's an 80+% chance of that happening by end of Jan i.e. we're cut adrift up shit creek. This is now the extent of Ruben and Amit's ambition. I don’t think he has a remit. I think he’s almost untouchable.

That point Stan made about choosing to start Kelman and Smyth tells you what utter garbage we're gonna have to put up with. Perhaps he just preferred to give them a go due to their attitude to training, when maybe the other two couldn’t give a shit. OK, it backfired badly. People do make mistakes though and learn from them.

I’m thinking Ainsworth endured a blast from both barrels with club owners and players after the Watford debacle.
Even his subs bench yesterday reflected making the best use of what’s available to himself in both Aoraha and Kolli

Results business I always think if you can keep the ball the opposition have to work harder to regain possession, most of that team yesterday were out on their feet around 65mins mark. Counter attacking is great but take Sinclair out of that team and we’re struggling.

hopefully he continues with 3 at the back but brings in a new RB. i said previously on the cardiff thread that a 3 at the back system would be good with adomah as the RWB but i'm withdrawing that after he came on yesterday. i thought that his experience would help at RWB, kind of like when ashley young or perisic converted to LWB's late in their career but adomah is well and truly gone imo.
he made zero impact on the game yesterday and if anything was a negative influence on it. a few times he headed the ball right to cardiff when he could have easily controlled it and wasted a few more seconds.
smyth had a great game at RWB but i don't know if he's a long term option simply because he's so lightweight and small.
got to add that i thought kakay was great in the back 3 and was utilized according to his strengths. he was mainly used as cover for fox and cooks lack of pace and sort of plugged various defensive gaps when needed. i'd still like to see kakay given a run out in CM at some stage though.
all in all it was a very good display with a system that suits our players and is also entertaining to watch.

Still need to be looking to be improving possession stats from yesterdays 35% Yes, most of the stats don't make great reading. Cardiff had:
Twice as much possession. Twice as many shots. Twice as many corners. But... QPR had:Twice as many goals

Results business All his results are low possession, including the worst ones. I used to think that approach worked a few years back - when France won the WC in Russia playing ultra fast counters - but all the stats indicate that on the majority of occasions, the team with higher possession wins. Plus for a successful counter set up you need speed and a rock solid defence, looking at Albert (for example) tells me the latter is far from sorted. Something clearly happened between our first two fixtures because there was more emphasis on our out ball on Saturday and better support going forward. I remain deeply sceptical about Thing. He needs to learn fast. Maybe he can do that. We'll see.

Today thanking the fans for re-setting their expectations for the season.🙄
Saying Field is feeling a historic injury to his knee but likely to play in next match.🫣
Exclaiming that after the next international break that the team will be really firing.🤥

Following on from my last encounter with Gareth (a boozy QPR night at the house of commons): Another little Gareth story and shows how small the music industry is. The guitarist in my own band is also playing in a covers band with Gareth as the singer. Says he's actually a pretty decent one with quite a powerful voice. They were rehearsing yesterday and are doing a little gig tonight near Wokingham (they both live round that way). He turned up in a classic Mustang (goes with the image!). He only just mentioned it but they've done a few gigs before. Gareth said he needs to get away early to be ready for the Southampton game tomorrow! Apparently he'd also like to do a new covers band playing INXS and Doors covers as is a fan of that music. So who knows, perhaps The Fugitives and Wild Thing collaboration could be in the pipeline at some point.
