I was thinking during the game "how often have I not worried about England playing a competitive international"?
This team deserves its' 5th world ranking status and so exciting to see phenomenal youth in the team with a plethora of others unavailable competing for places. I'm starting to think I'll see another World Cup win in my lifetime!

Looked very decent last night.
I didn't get the hysteria at the World Cup. The performances weren't living up to all the hype. But they looked like a team with loads of potential last night. So many good young players!

Sancho and Hudson-Odoi look like great prospects too. You know it's a strong England front line when you are wondering if Rashford is gonna get back in. Not sure they're that strong at the back, but I think there is enough potential in this side to challenge at major tournaments in the near future. |

It's great to see an England team without all the baggage that used to come with it. England always looked so laborious in the past, but this is like a completely fresh start. I guess the millions they've ploughed into developing youth football here are starting to pay off. But you can't manufacture genuine talent and I can't recall so many talented young players being available for England before. Just think back to the sort of players who'd make the England team in the past, not wanting to single anyone out, but there were so many bang average - at best - players (IMO).

as long as you have Henderson and Dyer together in midfield we are quarter finalists at best. I honesty think, especially in Europe, quality in on the wane, apart from Holland

Thought Barkley injected midfield thrust when he came on for Dier. Thought Henderson had a good game and captained the side.

Remember seeing Barkleys debut at Goodson park against us and you could tell he was a quality player straight away.

Not since Venables was manager has there been as much anticipation. People said the influx of foreigners would kill off young talent. Maybe it did at first but best part of a generation later and our youngsters look every bit as promising as talent around Europe.
