Would have sacked him on the spot after that diabolical tactical abortion of a final, setting up defensively against a bunch of old geezers booted out of the world cup by fucking Macedonia.
Never rated him.

My exact view too. My impression was the decision to retain him was more for political reasons than anything else.

Why are there always screams from high pitched voices at Wembley.
Think Bellingham is a fantastic player for his age.

Both Saka and Bellingham are absolute gems to have in the England squad. I think you could say they're world class already, and only 21 and 19 years old respectively. The future looks bright with young players like that who will surely only get better, along with the likes of Foden, Grealish, Rashford, Rice and Reece James. Stones has looked brilliant in defence as well.

its interesting to think about the generational shift with english football. we've always had great players but we were always noted for producing great defenders and weren't really known for our attacking midfielders (bar a few exceptions of course).
even when i was a kid we had terry, ferdinand, campbell, carragher and king as our main CBs. any one of those would walk into the starting lineups today imo

not disagreeing that we haven't had them, more so pointing out that there are much more silky english players operating in the front 3 around nowadays than in previous generations. look at our most recent callups over the past year. grealish, maddison, saka, rashford and foden for example off the top of my head. theres much more emphasis on technical ability in academies now than there was in yesteryear.

No doubt good players but we have a number around at same time. I’d say Bellingham is better than all those players. Then you’ve got Saka, Foden, Grealish, Madison, Rashford, Kane, Sterling……a lot of talent there!

I've already made exactly the same case as you regarding our current crop of players in a separate post above.

Harry Kane should bung Southgate a good few quid as he has given him more assists breaking the goalscorer record than any other player. This bloke will once again cost England when it really matters. 4 nil against Malta with that squad of players

don't particularly care, i've read some bullshit that it's to pay homage to our 66 training kit or something but don't think you should ever mess about with a national flag as though it's some sort of brand to be adjusted.
that being said i think nike have done it simply to create buzz and get people talking about the kit regardless of if the talk is all negative.

I fucking hate the Country we are becoming.

I think the proportions were off on the design and it looked more like a satellite than a flag. Rhubarb came to mind seeing the colours and I can see the connection with Rhubarb & Custard. Lots of running around. The position on the neck was interesting with the idea that St George was behind you and the opposition is the dragon. Very ingenious and I think the flag of St, George should now be changed to reflect the Nike version.

The whole St George's cross thing is nuts.
As a country we have adopted the heraldic emblem of a Turk.
Nike took it upon themselves to change the country's national symbol.
The FA were spineless enough to not question that design decision.
Nike's 'rationale' is absolutely wank - "a playful update to the cross of St George which appears on the collar to unite and inspire". Fuck me, whoever wrote that meaningless/disingenuous/cynical/pseudy bollocks needs firing.
The whole shitstorm seems like an analogy for the state of the country today - utterly vaccuous and without values.

Jimmy Floyd is clearly cut from the same cloth as Southgate. Both churn out boring pedestrian football. If England win the Euros it will be in spite of Southgate not because of him.
