What really depresses me about how QPR have royally fucked things up (chapter 39) is that we are selling all our "assets" under Ainsworth. I have no confidence in his ability (especially without a director of football) to get in replacements who we could develop into future assets to sell on. The Brentford model was all about selling well and then replacing with younger, cheaper equivalents who in turn can be sold. So no problem with selling these players - we need to do so. But there are good young players being released from B teams of Premier clubs we could be going for. Instead it looks like we will end up with the Josh Scowens, Berkovics, Bradley Dacks - worth sweet FA now, and worth sweet FA in the future.

Harold Macmillan accused Margaret Thatcher of "selling off the family silver" when she sold a lot of the country's assets but didn't then re-invest the money. We seem to be following the same path. Can't hide the fact I find it all very depressing. We are being raped for our best players and will replace them with worse players on probably the same salaries with no sell on value.

Thanks Sparks. All the more concerning when the kind of money we will be getting for these "assets" looks like being beer money. Not all the club's fault as the Championship market has collapsed. But I look back now on that Jan transfer window under Warbs. The fan base wanted the club to "twist" and were furious we didn't spend even more. But actually, if we had tried to sell the likes of Dickie, Deing, Chair and Willock then we might have got a decent wedge - and afforded the next Chris Willock from Benfica, not some mid-20s trundler released by Wycombe. 

Certainly not with the same skill levels. We seem to be undoing all the good work we did under Warbs and Beale and returning to Holloway-era honest battlers. Short term maybe it might make us a little more competitive to eek out some ugly points, but has the club abandoned its development strategy? If so, what's the game plan? If it does still want to develop players to sell, how does it propose to do that given the apparent transfer strategy? Is anyone signing off on Ainsworth's transfers? If so who? Are these decisions being made according to data analytics or is it back to the old boys club? Silence from the club on all this is deafening, and also tells its own story...

We do love a flap on here. Loads of time left in the window. Don't think next season will be pretty but I don't think it'll be as bad as many are predicting.
