Liverpool did what they needed to. They didn't need the posession. The die was cast before anyone got on the pitch.
This was billed as a kind of star gaffer vs star gaffer final and unfortunately for Spurs Poch got badly found out. The team didn't bottle it but he did. Stats have been telling everyone for ages now that Spurs score more when Kane doesn't start - even if he'd been fully fit there was a case for not starting him. The whole structure of the side has to be changed when he plays. As it is he still looks shot away.

Conte sacked by Inter 11 days after winning the title. Good manager, didn't deserve the way CFC dealt with him.
OGS surely done now at MUFC. Apart from the odd counter, they really don't seem to have a game plan or philosophy. No idea how to cope with a well parked bus, not the slightest clue. A bus which the whole world knew would be parked there this evening.
edit: on the plus side Emery winning a fourth European trophy has re-opened the wounds again Islington way...

Emery successful manager but awful to watch. A bit like the end of Wenger. Looked a perfect fit😂

Tonight yet another example of the Sterling problem.
James and Chilwell outstanding. I really hope Southgate was watching and learning, and wont make the kind of half arsed selections Pep did.

Didn't watch it. Had a nasty feeling Chelsea would win. Can't sit through Chelsea and Brentford both celebrating like that on the same day!

I did watch it and Tuchel has Pep's number when it comes to matching up across the pitch. The lack of a centre forward does not work against Chelsea and if ever a team needed Kane it is City. 1 shot on target in 90 minutes is simply not good enough.

They built the success this year with the 2 centre backs and a holding midfielder so why change in the biggest game in their history. Pep still not won it without Messi

Cant remember a more pleasing day to avoid football results. Still unpleasnt to read results today, mind.

Not just in front of goal but he is a great passer of the ball. Playing against a false 9 is no big deal for a top team. Pep tried to outsmart Chelsea and all they did was stick to what they do every game.

Can’t help but think if Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool or perhaps even Chelsea are thinking about spending big money on Kane, I’d be tempted to spend a bit extra and try get Haaland. He’s 20 y/o compared to 27 y/o Kane and looks every bit as good if not better than Kane.

Watched the game and (apart from the result) really enjoyed it.
What was surprising was how damn average (poor) City were. Strange starting selection, but key players just didn't turn up.
They mustered just ONE shot on target all game.
Mind you Chelsea didn't give them a second on the ball, right up to the final whistle they were snapping at City's heel and closing them down really fast.
Have to say, however grudgingly, Chelsea deserved it.
Disappointing not to see a fully-kitted Terry in the presentation/celebrating pics...

He's done what he's done despite being at THFC, sobering thought. One other point must be made re last night. CFC won off the field as well, outsung the UAE from before the kick off. Always hated CFC goes with the territory but I respect them more than city. City can afford to run at a stupendous annual loss, and in the last 10 years have spent more than any club on the planet. By a huge margin.

Haaland stats are every bit as good as Kane’s so far in his career. Admittedly he’s played at a lower level until last season when he moved to Dortmund. But he’s produced the goods at Dortmund and he’s also got a very good scoring record in the Champions League. The question is can he do it in the Premiership? Obviously Kane has a proven record. Can Haaland score goals for Man Utd, City, Liverpool or Chelsea in the Premiership, I’d think so, he’s going to get plenty of chances created for him playing at one of the top clubs. He’s well suited to the English game, he’s got the physicality and pace for it. But to me his age would be a big influence on why I’d go for Haaland. I can’t think of another Centre Forward at 20 y/o who looks such a natural number 9

As far as the Champions League goes, I think the competition needs a revamp, and you should need to win your league before being allowed to enter the competition. There’s no way Chelsea are the best team in Europe at the moment and that is the reason for the competition.

That's not "a revamp"; that's "a revert" to how it used to be i.e. The European Cup. I agree with you. It wasn't broke so it didn't need fixing. Follow the money - that tells you the only reason why it changed in the first place.

You’re right Stan, it’s designed to keep the big money in the big leagues. They’ve turned it into a monopoly and is stagnant and boring, in my opinion, I think the majority of winners of the competition now haven’t won their league. Real Madrid have won it a ludicrous amount of times since it changed to the “Champions League”, so it’s easier to qualify and it’s easier to win because of the league format in much of the competition, a team can have poor performances, get beat in some games and still go on to qualify and eventually win the competition. Real Cup competition, a bad performance or two and you’re out, no chance to recover. They’ve devalued the competition by reducing its exclusivity.

Chelsea finished 4th in their league this season and haven’t won the Premiership in 4 years. How can they be the best team in Europe when they clearly aren’t even the best in England?

You have to go back to Osgood, Hudson and co. to find a decent team and they played in probably the worst stadium in the top flight. They definitely started the madness in this country but it was ACMilan that really kicked things off with their aim of signing two first elevens to dominate Europe.

Was interesting to hear Lineker say he was one of the highest paid footballers on 350k a YEAR and went to Grampas 8 for seven times as much.
