Coventry season virtually over after that result Gives us a better chance if we need a point on the final day👍 They play Ipswich on the Tuesday night before playing us. If we do need a result up there we can’t ask for much more help from the footballing gods.

I’m driving myself crazy with thinking about this all the time. My wife saying “you don’t seem with us”. “Just thinking about work love”. Or rather “just wondering whether goal difference will come into it”…….well I don’t think it will, which to me is a relief as can’t be a worse way to come down. As in I don’t think a big loss or 2 big losses will make difference to narrow loss. No way are Wednesday and Huddersfield making that up. And the others, well if we lose 2, no way can goal difference go in positive manor

Imagine being a Birmingham or Huddersfield fan now I am. And it's a GREAT feeling. (Not being one). FWIW, hoping Huddersfield win and that Brum and Blackburn go down.

Plymouth or Birmingham going into the final day in jeopardy in my opinion.
I think blues will drop myself

Penultimate table. Huddersfield down (unless they win and turn round a 15 goal GD to overhaul Plymouth). Some really tough games for those in trouble - Sheffield Wednesday probably got the (relatively) easiest task, and then Plymouth. Norwich at Birmingham still playing for a play-off place and Leicester will surely want to wrap up the title (assuming Ipswich win their game in hand) at home. Birmingham must be nailed on favourites to join them and Rotherham in League One next season - which would be poetic justice. How great is it to have that as the main interest on the last day

On this day last season we stayed up with a win away at Stoke.
Any chance we can have a half decent season next one ffs.

Birmingham City FC haven't been in the third tier of English football for thirty years.
It will be a very humbling experience for them and will do them the power of good 😎

It will be interesting to see how this pans out on Saturday. I realise that you can go down and stay up on the same points due to GD but I think it is fair to say however many points the 4th bottom team gets is the winning prediction don't you?

Brum need something. Even a draw will not be enough unless Plymouth get tonked. It would be absolutely hilarious id Brum go down.

Yes, the winning prediction is for points total, not GD.

Just imagine if we'd lost to Leeds. Even a narrow defeat, and we'd be on 50 points with -17 gd. That would quite possibly have been enough, but it wouldn't have been good for my nerves. On the other hand it makes the final day quite boring really.🥱

Gonna be a great day of boozing, stress free, no biting nails, on the road with pals singing our hearts out celebrating the great escape. Gonna be a brilliant day with the pressure off. Obviously hope we go out with a win & think we will but don't care if we get done 5-0 tbh

Although saying that, I might be doing us a bit of an injustice there.
We turned up against Oldham in the play offs, against Sheffield Weds to go up etc, probably more I can't remember right now too.

And, most satisfyingly (is that a word?), against Leeds 🤣 I just love the feeling of not giving a single little shit what happens to us on Saturday, given the season we've had.

Love Birmingham to go down. Then probably Wednesday and Blackburn.
Blackburn will probably lose to a Leicester team with pressure off. So can Birmingham and Plymouth both win at home? Outside chance but I think could happen.

Brum would be the funniest but I wouldn't cry if Wednesday went down after the way they celebrated that second goal in front of us.
Having said all of that, their escape would be as remarkable and unexpected as ours a few months ago.

QPR and Stoke on identical points and GD but they're ahead as scored two more goals. Talk about tight!

And just three more points and we would have been equal 13th with Millwall.
So what was the result for us that kept us up and got us to 50 (?) points?

So to answer my own question we didn’t need to get anything against Leeds or Coventry but we did need to beat Preston. Is that right?

How ironic that we have ended up with the same points as Watford. The very same Watford that El Trampo claimed were obvious promotions candidates when they beat us 4-0 in cruise mode at the start of the season. No other stat better illustrates the chasm between Ainsworth's incompetence and Marti's magic.
