Don't mean to bring down the positivity here chaps but I'm firmly not getting my hopes up until we get to a position where we have some daylight between us and the bottom 3, above it not in it. Don’t think we will be getting daylight this year Ginge Its a big mountain to just get in the pack atm mate As long as we have a chance I’ll take that We are not good enough this year for daylight

Agree. We have lost more games than any team in England over the last 10 and 5 years. Maybe the last two also. It’s freakish we haven’t been relegated earlier. Over the last calendar year we would also be down. Never say never of course but if Martí saves us from this he would deserve massive plaudits.

Oh I’m with you on that one. It’s qpr, I won’t be positive until we’re 4+ points clear with 1 game left! But, this gives us hope. That’s what football is about. We now have a manager we can believe in and a chance to stay up this year.

I think we will be in and out of the bottom three for the rest of the season.
There won’t be a comfortable period imo and it will go to last games of season or thereabouts

Fine margins and knowing us it will go all the way.

has anyone got any stats on how often a team is relegated who looked safe mid-season? IMHO we need a Blackburn or similar to fall like a stone. Think Sheffield Wednesday now likely to stay up as new manager has turned them round. So even if Huddersfield drop we need one other. Is possible a team gets complacent and just falls away (as very nearly happened to us last season).

My Sheff in-laws wouldn’t agree Wednesday will stay up mate, they’re all more pissed off with Chansiri and the club than we are here.

Birmingham could be that side but I would say everyone to Plymouth is our longer term objective and who I would suggest are the wider pack to target.

They're all tough games but Brum will be a much tougher game now with Mowbray in charge of them.

We need reinforcements if we want to be on the "safe side". I hope the CEO reads this.

All games are winnable except Leicester away. Look at performance vs Southampton, who are probably 2nd strongest after Leicester

I say we have a chance.
Looking at our run of Fixtures in February, we have Blackburn away, Norwich home, Bristol City away, Rotherham home,
That is a massive month for us imo, especially considering March/April are both very tough in terms of fixtures.

We seem to have a Jekyll and Hyde team. If the right one turns up every match, if key players can stay fit, and if we can do this to opponents every game...
...then we're in with a decent chance.
Quite nice to read that quote about a QPR side at last.

So every game is winnable and every game is losable, which is kind of stating the obvious really? Not sure that was Matty and James' point though.

Still not perfect for us but certainly more comfortable with number of teams in between us and bottom three

We can definitely get out of this due to those around us being as shit as us. Having this manager has given us a massive boost, but I do think we need to keep our main players fit as in Cook, JCS, Chair, Wiillock etc or we’ll be in dire trouble.

i'm still of the mind we'll go down albeit i am hopeful of staying up as we have some real favourable fixtures ahead.
what i have liked under marti is the vastly improved performances, that final touch is what has often let us down.

Looking at the team that finished the match today, once Frey and Hayden are fitter, and possibly bolstered by Anderson if he comes and is fit, it honestly starts to look like a mid-table Championship side. Obviously massive caveat is we so rarely repeat a good performance, so massive test now to follow that up against Norwich and Stoke. Am starting to think, with several other teams in free fall, maybe we don't need as many wins as we reckoned. If we can grind out a lot of ugly draws even another, say, 5 wins might be enough. Blackburn have two points from 10 games, Stoke on a terrible run too. Much better to start the season being absolute garbage and improve with every game. A number of our rivals are going the other way. Wouldn't rule out both us and Huddersfield surviving.
OK, probably getting carried away now...

I wouldn’t rule that out either, we start building a bit of confidence and panic sets in elsewhere. Going to be interesting.

thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=211th in the 6 game form table. 3 of the four teams we still have to play in Feb are in the bottom 6 of that form table. Slowly, slowly reel in your fish: I’d take a point at home against Norwich (7th in form table) and if we play as we did against Blackburn we could beat Stoke. Away seems to suit us, maybe less pressure. Huddersfield away to Southampton next game and Blackburn and Stoke play each other so IF we could beat Norwich we are out of the bottom three and could potentially then leapfrog Stoke if we turn them over as well. That is dreamland but with rivals losing so many games even a draw against Norwich would keep our momentum and likely close the gap.
