Still keep 50 as a target. Any lower is welcome bonus.

Think 50 points is little bit over egged. Usually 43/44 keeps you up most seasons. Comfortably.
50 points only been needed twice in last 10/12 years I seem to remember.

Would agree around 43/44 might do it. Haven't done the maths but if we simply maintained the points per game ratio we have achieved under Marti to date until the end of the season I reckon we would be fairly close to 50 points in any case. And given that our six game form table looks better than our 10 game one (ie we are improving) and given we have possibly strengthened better than some others, it is (whisper it) starting to look much more optimistic...

It was that dreadful 6 game period between mid-Dec to mid-Jan that really buggered us.
But 2 wins and a draw from the last 3 games is very encouraging, along with these vital new signings.

As fans we focus on our terrible run but other teams are having them too. Blackburn haven't won since early December and you can image what being beaten (and outplayed) by the team third from bottom must do for their morale. Stoke are having a stinker. Bristol City aren't really talked about but if they don't turn their form around they will start dropping like a rock, never mind a stone.

I would guess Swansea with a novice manager look most likely to be amongst the mosh pit of relegation.

To be fair, at this point in time, I`m more worried about Huddersfield and their resilience than points needed. With such a limited squad and without a mangager yesterday`s convincing win against Sheffield wed. was impressive.

It's that old adage - focus on yourself first and foremost and the rest will take care of itself.

I believe 49 points will be enough so we would need 20 points. That's 1,3 per game and is mid-table form.

For any fan on here still questioning if we are making progress or if it is fast enough, take a look at these stats I nicked off Loft for Words.
Over the last four games we have gained the following number of points on our relegation rivals:
8 points over Stoke 7 points over Rotherham and Millwall 5 points over Swansea 4 points over Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn and Birmingham 3 points over Bristol City and Huddersfield
If we could keep up that rate of progress we would finish about 14th. We don't need to put ourselves under the pressure of expecting 9 points from 3 games. Mixture of wins and draws would be more than enough, but don't underestimate how hard that is for ANYONE down the bottom to achieve.

Important we get max value out of the next three games, ideally 7, hopefully at least 5. And are out of the bottom 3 before the month is out!

That's a lot of points left to battle over. 45 in total. I try and look at things simply where possible and all I know is, on our day, we can compete with anyone in this division. #GoingIntoBattle

The more stats that compare how bad we were to the ‘ if we carry on in the same vein’ I keep seeing being posted makes me more nervous that we might actually run out of games before stepping clear.
The mindset of Cook and Salter determine what type of stance we take up in a game and there’s no denying that it’s been not what Marti has wanted when we go ahead.

But let’s not go crazy if we don’t win. A draw be Bristol Isn’t bad either. We just keep accumulating points. Remaining unbeaten, builds confidence and we get new players more match fit. We can win any game apart from Leicester away I’d say.

in hindsight thr draw at norwich was a massive result. games mean so much more for the playoff and relegation battling sides at this stage in the season and norwich were only a point off the playoffs going into the game on saturday. we more than held our own and were the better team for large spells of the game, we held them off for the most part but 2 moments of poor defending cost us.
we don't look like a relegation threatened side imo. all we have to do is keep playing the way we're playing and we'll work our way out of the bottom 3.

Nervously twiddling thumbs and spreadsheets now...
For no good reason I've broken down the last 15 games into blocks of 3 matches and attached points targets to them. Even achieving the minimum acceptable targets would give us 45 points, which could very well be enough to stay up.
Wed 14 Feb A Stoke City Sat 17 Feb A Bristol City Sat 24 Feb H Rotherham
Target: 7 Min acceptable: 4
--------
Sat 2 Mar A Leicester City Wed 6 Mar H West Bromwich Albion Sat 9 Mar H Middlesbrough
Target: 4 Min acceptable: 2
--------
Sat 16 Mar A Sunderland Fri 29 Mar H Birmingham City Mon 1 Apr A Swansea City
Target: 5 Min acceptable: 3
--------
Sat 6 Apr H Sheffield Wednesday Tue 9 Apr A Plymouth Argyle Sat 13 Apr A Hull City
Target: 6 Min acceptable: 4
--------
Sat 20 Apr H Preston North End Sat 27 Apr H Leeds United Sat 4 May A Coventry City
Target: 5 Min acceptable: 3
--------
Total target points: 27, making 56 points in total
Total minimum acceptable points: 16, making 45 points in total
Total form guide points - 20, making 49 points in total
