Similar position next year for me. Clubs coming up this far not super strong. Championship is shit get small margins right and you will be fine

Think he’s already gone, which would explain him not playing the last 2 matches.

Rate Freeman and been a good servant - if we can get 5 or 6 mill for him then I wish him all the luck to take his career to the next level.
I think young Chair will come in and set this league a light and I am also still a massive fan of Eze who oozes class for me and hopefully under the right management next year will be utilised in the right games as he’s a match wii we.
Our attacking young guns - BOS, Smyth, Eze and Chair could really cause teams problems next year.
Tighten up our back four and find that elusive goal scorer I would expect us to at least replicate this seasons finish.

Looks like bad refereeing cost McLaren's job. What a pity IMO. And if the club knew that then it's just another bit of bad management to get rid of him.

footballleagueworld.co.uk/sheffield-united-table-offer-for-queens-park-rangers-ace/not the most reliable site i know but it certainly seems believable. 4m seems derisory for freeman but i reckon he only signed a new deal with us last season with the condition that he could leave for 4-5m to a bigger club. either way i truly wish freeman the best. i would rather he stayed but we have players ready to step up to fill the void and the money generated from his sale could be used to bring in the striker that we so desperately need

Wow. Sell him. If you have to. Fine. But get a facking decent fee for him you useless facking tools. Is the only thing that facking club can do is preach left wing politics?

Let us see what happens before getting the pitchforks out eh!
The way we are signing players it wouldn't surprise me if he is off but with his stats we should get a decent fee.

I'd suspect 4 or 5m would actually get him. At the end of the day, it's a great return for a player that cost us a few hundred thousand less than 3 years ago. And whether us fans like it or not, we do need the money!
I appreciate other players from this division are fetching higher fees. But Freeman himself will probably try and push the move if a Premier League club shows an interest. Our bargaining power is also weakened by the fact everyone knows we are skint!

Could be why Warburton said 'every player has their price'.

I think £8mil is top end and we’re doing well getting that. £6mil would prob be right

I think £8mil is top end and we’re doing well getting that. £6mil would prob be right yeah i'd say 5-6m will probs get him. i can see us holding out for a bit more money from sheff utd given freeman is a very good player at this level who is ready to play in the prem. 5-6m would still be a great bit of business from sheff utd. the only reason why i think we're considering offers of that kind for freeman is because of a clause or a gentleman's agreement which is fine in my eyes. freeman has been a class act for us and has been our most important player over the past 2 seasons. sad to see him go but all the best and thanks for your service

I agree with Corbs on this.
Very strong chance that we came to an agreement with Luke a year ago that we wouldn’t stand in his way, should an opportunity he fancied come up.
Think it’s much better to wish all players well when they move to pastures new, providing they have given their best for us and behaved in a respectful manner, which in fairness, the vast majority do.
Suddenly turning on them, or criticising them as players or people is never a good look. Just wish them well and try to give their replacements all the support we can.

I've just been told that £4m is actually Freeman's release clause. Surely that can't be right?
EDIT that's fake news, never mind.
However I've also heard we're holding out for £10m.

We would have got relegated without him the last two seasons. Unfortunately he probably has negotiated a release clause in order to sign his recent contract. We don't seem to get the timing right with these things. Obviously not easy tbf.

Hubs, if anyone with a few quid was taking a look at him then maybe 8m quid would be on the cards. From what I've heard Boro, Cardiff and Sheff Utd are the only sides that have shown any interest. My money is on him going for a good bit less. The 4m quid quoted in the papers is probably about right!

We turned down 6 for him from boro didn’t we?? Surely 4s gotta be bullshit. As long as warbs is given the money to improve the squad I’m cool with him going and wish him well, he’s given his all for us and deserves a crack at the top flight. I feel really good about the club and the way they’ve gone about things so far so I actually trust them to get it right. Fucking weird saying that

We don't seem to get the timing right with these things. Obviously not easy tbf. Don't think there is a release clause mate. Maybe a gentleman's agreement we'd let him go if a bigger side comes in for him. I think Smithies was a similar situation. Also worth bearing in mind that we do need to sell someone this summer. It's pretty much common knowledge when you look at our last set of accounts and deduct the parachute payment. Doubt good money is gonna come in for Eze, so it's bound to be Freeman that is sold!

Given he signed a new contract is be surprised if any release clause was as low as 4m. Getting a player to sign a new deal in our situation is usually to prise more money out when we inevitably have to sell.

In my view he lacks the consistency to be in top transfer bracket.
Yes we have seen him dictate and turn games but then we have also seen after running a game he don’t turn up for next three or four and goes off the boil. The players worth the big dough have level of consistency and do it week in week out

Don't think that's fair. Has always been fairly consistent for me in poor sides.

Never been a huge fan but have to say he has done well for us so would wish him well when he does move on. As for the feeling that 6 million is about right I would disagree and look at how much that carthorse Bamford has been moved around for. 8 to 10 then let him go.

Start of last season he was pretty poor. Found some form during our purple patch and pretty fire towards end of season. He was not alone but given his ability you can go three four quiet games as often as he does
Think he improved his game from previous season. I’m not convinced he is off

I can guarantee you 100% we need to find 4 or 5m quid from somewhere to meet our FFP requirements. If not Freeman, who are we selling? The only other player in the squad that could command a fee like that is Eze. And there has been zero interest in him this window. Suppose you could sell Lumley for some of that and try and shift another of the youngsters too. But in my eyes, Freeman is the obvious one to move on!
