What can you expect the guy to do in 120 seconds?!
We were piss poor for the whole game, if you're going to change a striker do it on 60 or 70 minutes to give them a chance of doing something.

looked woeful so far, sadly. looked ok at best for the first ten minutes after he came on but was anonymous after that. he's certainly not a hold up type player that's for sure but i feel like he'd maybe be a decent striker in a different system.

He was ok for 15 minutes or so. I don’t think he could have done anything with that header as ball was too high. Still
Willing to give him and new lads more time. The big concern is how piss weak we are and get bullied. We don’t address that, then we will go down.

I thought he looked awful for the full 45mins James. Token jumping for headers without really trying to challenge, lacklustre closing down, no hold up play and no bringing any others into the game. If he had not been on the pitch I don’t think we would have even noticed.
As for two up top not sure I would change formation just to try and fit in a player who has shown absolutely nothing so far that’s quite a big thing to do which this player has not earned. Also how many sides play two up top? Two up top today leaves you one less defending, two men stood up top waiting for an attack has sadly gone in todays football.

What worries me most is he doesn't do the basics well. It's not just an issue with form. The bloke doesn't know what he should be doing half the time.
It's actually a fairly similar situation to Dykes, but at least he put it about a bit and could hold the ball up. Celar doesn't even offer that, he brings literally zero to the team from what I've seen so far.

It’s a bit Holloway fitting people into roles that don’t suit them. absolutely, neither one is a traditional AM but what i mean is to adapt that AM role to them depending on the situation, more of a second striker type of thing. if we need to go direct then have frey drop deeper into that hole and hopefully flick it on to celar to run onto. if we need to pass it about a bit then celar can drop deeper to receive the ball and pass it about. there both strikers just being asked to cover slightly more of the pitch between them rather than being out and out AM's. |

Don't want to get on his back. Share the frustrations but as a fanbase think we have some responsibility to build players up. Strikers more than any other position thrive on confidence. I slightly fear on current trajectory he will become the new Dykes in the eyes of the fanbase. A scruffy goal and he might suddenly be up and running. At the moment whoever plays up front is completely isolated. I don't quite understand how because the three attacking midfielders are also miles away from the two defensive midfielders, but they don't support the striker at all.

Played well for first 10-15 mins on Tues, so there is something there and is why I’ve not given up on him yet. Get the frustrations but it’s still early days for him.

I say this with all sincerity but I would legit rather see Dykes up top than Celar. He offers absolutely zero. he’s trying put himself about but he’s clearly a box player only so he’s fucked in this side. Smyth whipped in two balls into box 2nd half. Why wasn't he busting a gut to get on the end of them? He never even ran. I recall one run he made 2nd half from a through ball and that was it. |
