He only needs one foot
He will score 10 goals in that position no problem and penalties and 10 assists
Hes in the wrong position

Koki Varane Field Colback Dembele Zen Chair Have to admit that does look good That would mean three at the back, so who are your wingbacks?

Celar That’s the team I would go with for now (although the jury is still out in Santos) and Paal needs replacing.

Celar Other than Dunne absent this my team also - tho think Andersen has a big role to play. Beauty of those 4 attacking midfielders (inc Andersen) is they can swap into different positions. Big difference bringing Andersen on at 60 mins than Smyth or Armstrong

Not really Gens. Santos is a dedicated RB, unlike Dunne who's a makeshift there, and was at fault for one of the goals Saturday. I'd like to see what Santos can do. Maybe he'll try him out tomorrow in the cup.

Need a new LB badly. Paal looks fucking awful. If as you say Beck comes in going to be a real test of Nourry’s negotiating tactics to get Paal out of the building. We don’t want to be paying his wages and have him glum about the place if he is refusing a new contract

Like that With Chair as the 10 ! Ok so you can get away with a predominantly left sided 10. That's not Chair. Chair is a more natural 8, he aint got the distribution you need for a 10 imo. You can play him on the left but it means he's always going to be cutting in, which is too predictable. That's why I'd like to see him with the freedom to switch flanks as and when. I don't like rigid structures up top, madam. Marti, I'm not so sure... Ideally you do need a two footed 10. You're right re Stan, but he was an exception, and people forget the amount of assists he provided. But that aint Ilias.

I would ideally like us to sign an experienced left back. No sure how Beck fits that criteria.

With two new signings do we know for certain that Chair is staying?

I’ve seen a few comments on twitter and here about not looking fit.
Was this not something that was addressed last year with the new geezer from the cycling team. Did I imagine or did they not say the plan was not to be 100% tuned for the first games but instead a few games in and the thinking was this would reduce injuries later in the season which it did.
Personally fitness was not something I saw as a concern watching first two games but clearly it’s something others have observed.

Yeah I was at the meeting where the cycling guy was introduced and basically detailed what you just said. This was during the last days of Gareth, so not sure if he survived or was in fact part of the transition. My problem with this concept is that in this league you have to use pre season as your tune up but be there ready to roll in time for the first proper game. Because in this league three or four games without full fitness could see you adrift early doors. To me, they look rushed at the back and can't press with any coherence. That could be fitness.

Agree Hal but there must be some scientific logic behind it but it is bizarre.

In the match thread v Cambridge i questioned their fitness.
The only 2 who were bright and buzzing for me were Smyth and Frey. The rest looked laboured and slow to the ball or some had their nose put out of place as they will have to fight fot their place. Think Field was dreadful so slow to react maybe making Cook captain didnt sit well with him.
Then there is always one of my pet hates a decent pre season where we are fit and ready to go.

Is that fitness or attitude/desire Bill? Perhaps thought game would be easy and not mentally at it

There’s no way most of them are giving 100% in 1st round of league cup away to lower league side. I expect/hope to see massive step up on Saturday……but we’ll probably lose still
