I'm so gutted mate. Before kickoff i would have been happy with a draw. When we went a goal up, i thought we were going to beat them. 1-1 at half time, i was content. then, second half, it was the Paal shitshow. one player cost us that game and it was that thick carnt. there seems to be someone in the crowd that has a remote control on and off switch that controls his brain. wish the bloke would switch it to on. not to defend Paal as he was turned inside out for their second but there was alot wrong with it and three stages of shitness from three individual players. When ball is out for throw Kolli just standing there hand on hips (not a this level Kolli!!)when WBA are all moving then he reacts too late leaving Paal exposed, Paal awful trying hold crosser up dnd dives in (think he’s still untangling his legs) then floated ball in and Dunne just stands no idea man is behind him and does not jump. Total shit show from all three but think Dunne ultimately responsible as if he tries win the ball I don’t think fella scores as he’s not getting a clean header. Dunne has become bit of a golden child for how he performed last season towards the end but he had a torrid day today but it’s not mentioned anywhere. Lloyd fucked up for third so both kids today have contributed to conceding goals so it’s an early learning curve for both. Key is both reacting in right way and not switching off again as at this level it’s unforgivable as more often then not you get punished.

We have fans who have convinced themselves that Marti is going to be the best manager in our history. Losing an opening match to calm expectations down is far better than losing an end of season six pointer. No, we have fans who can see things moving on the right direction after the circus of the last decade. There has been plenty of concern expressed on here as well as enthusiasm. If you can’t get excited about the prospects of your team there is something wrong. Enthusiasm is one thing, the cult of Marti has been a completely different thing.

No excuse for being completely oblivious of the player he's supposed to be marking. That's just schoolboy and is why he lost his CB place to Cook and JCS.

We need to become harder to break down
Pack the midfield with muscle
Leaking goals is not good
Paal seems like a liability in every game atm

All three goals were avoidable if both full backs stop the crosses. Paal far too casual in his defending and as he is sellable I would be doing all I can to move him on by the end of the month. He is one who will walk away next year for nothing if we don't.

Our first 5 games look really tough tbh
We need to pack the defence and midfield
And try and get some points
The Rangers flair can wait a few weeks tbh

I just think people have been relieved to finally have a manager at LR with some ideas about how the game has developed in the previous 30 years. I saw no evidence of that with Ainsworth or Ollie, and some signs development with Beale & Warburton. Marti's thinking seems a bit more joined up. Frankly everyone was pretty off it today, him included, but afterwards he made no attempt to do the old skool spin ie we was robbed, unlucky, everyone gave everything they had bollox. Just said it like it was. These are reasons why we like him, but its a long way from a cult.

Marty is too humble to be a cult.

I agree after Ainsworth its just relief
That we have someone who knows about
Football management and new players
10 years of appalling football decisions
Owners were to blame too busy playing golf
Back to being a proper football club
With a proper manager whatever division

any thoughts on our new goalkeeper? Three one on ones. Defence completely invisible.

I think he looks a decent keeper. Not seen him come and claim anything yet. But he looks like he knows what he’s doing. Nearly clawed the first goal out which would have been some save.
You unsure Jimmy?

You unsure Jimmy? No defo not mate. Looks a decent keeper just felt he was hung out to dry yesterday. First goal how has Maja been allowed to head that unchallenged? Nardi no chance although as you say he nearly kept it out. Second goal. Jimmy Dunne static literally waiting for the ball to land on his head rather than going towards the ball. In pops Maja thanks very much. Could Nardi have come for that one maybe? Third, Maja back post again where is a defender? Considering we were so tight defensively back end of last season that was a real dose of reality.

Considering we’ve had a full pre season
We just did not look ready yesterday
Wrong team Wrong tactics
Needs to change sharpish
Have to ask was the defence shit because
Hayden was not there to protect it
It is possible

Despite his performances occasionally end of last season I have always thought that Dunne is not really a full back but has done a job filling in. I thought buying Santos washing to be his replacement but maybe he is seen as "one for the future".
Paal who I had said I liked obviously wants out and probably thought he was on his way a couple of weeks ago but with shows like yesterday who is going to pay money for him. Fox seems to be a long way off recovery so we are stuck with what we have or change formation at the back
Hayden would have made a difference and maybe our attacking shortcomings will improve if we sign the names we are linked with. Until then the defence has to be rock solid and not switch off with individual errors. Definitely a learning curve for a couple of the younger ones yesterday and sad to hear but Marti put it on the line with his views post match. Celar obviously has some ability but I think the Championship was a bit of a shock to him after the pretty stroke the ball around of Euro internationals and will take time to adjust.
Every cloud has a silver lining - just think we are 3 places higher and 2 goals goal difference better off than after one game last season.
Onwards and upwards.

People showing Marti as a Saint in? Disagree if you want, but there is a cult around Marti. It may be tounge in cheek to some, but it exists.

I never thought the overall team performance was not that bad. Thought was relatively even game and we had more shots plus shots on target than them. Difference is we create bad chances as the attacking play so shit where as others create decent chances.

I thought we were just too easy to get the better of down the wings and too soft at times when the ball came into the box. Of course, we also didn't create that much, but I think we all expected that when we saw the line up. I think the good news is that it doesn't need major surgery. Some better players are to come back or come in. I'm still a bit concerned at full back and I hope Celar livens up in the coming weeks. No need to panic though.

Bottom line: The team put out yesterday was significantly weaker than the team that ended last season. In that sense the result was unsurprising.

We were poor overall, but other than Supermac up front and Swift in the middle, I didn't think too much of them. And Supermac did nothing but score a hat trick. Lol. Thought at 1-3 we could get back into it until the 85th min, after which it became too big of an ask. No rose tinted spectacles. My default position is to fume.
