So. The argument for playing close to the first eleven is that they really need game time together, that much is obvious.
On the other hand we obviously have a few injuries. Plus of course we play them in the league on Friday.
Interesting call for MC. What would you do?

Let's show them everything we've got! (Will that effect things Friday?)

Luton had less than impressive start to season.
Thought of losing twice in four days to Luton brings me out in a cold sweat.

Got to start Varane and Saito. Other than that, I’d make some changes given Friday game. Definitely wouldn’t play Cook.

Think it will be QPR reserves v Luton reserves largely.
We badly need a first league win of the season in the league match.
Think the following (at least) will be rested:
Cook Field Frey
Expect to see Kohli if fit, Morrison.

Good chance to get some decent minutes in the new players. Think we'll get beaten though.

personally want to see a strongish side play tonight but also give some people a chance to play. don't think madsen will be in the squad, he's probably still in the middle of moving so needs time to get everything in order.
assuming people are fit/not leaving i'd go for
walsh santos morrison JCS paal EDB varane smyth bennie/lloyd saito celar

I get all the counter-arguments, don't risk your best players etc but the above trumps those IMO With that said, I see the arguments for resting the likes of Cook and bringing in players who need to up their fitness and minutes, but we can still play a strong team all the same.

Would definitely start Dembele, Saito, Madsen and Celar. When they have to play Friday too? mate people work a lot more physically demanding jobs than footballers and work 5-6 days a week without half the support they get. If u can’t play 2 games in a week there’s no hope

If u can’t play 2 games in a week there’s no hope But its 3 games in a week. Sat, Tue, Friday. Your body needs time to build up natural energy levels. With the amount of new players we have, it is good to have more games at the moment. Get everyone fit and get all players involved and motivated. Only issue is how many times we are rotating as it makes it hard to build relationships.

I get they are pampered and can physically turn up and play. But are they going to be running as far, or as fast, or tackling as hard? In weeks when we played 3 matches in 8 days last season our results were off the scale bad in the third match of the three. So you do have to decide what match is more important. Tommy thinks the cup game more important. If you assume we are going to finish mid-table I get that logic. Personally I think a first league win of the season more important but all about opinions as they say.

It's all about attitude. Go in half arsed in any way tonight and hand over the initiative for Friday at the same time.
Strategically there's a strong argument to put out your best 11 tonight.

If your not going to try and win the cup your hardest, no point entering, just wasted time and energy.

You can't play your best 11 every single game, it's nuts to think that you can.
Why can't we make changes and still go for the win? Those that come in have a great chance to make a case for starting the next game.
I actually don't mind keeping the players the same for 3 games on the bounce. We did it under Mclaren and we won all 3. The time before that, he changed it for game 3 and we lost the 3rd game (against a team who didn't make changes for the 3rd game).
I play football back to back sometimes. I run way less in the 2nd game if I havent had any time to recover. Obviously, they are professionals etc but so are who they are playing. Running marathons when you are racing yourself is a different thing all together.

By all means change the odd player or rotate using subs as it is a squad game now but they ought to be able to play pretty much the ‘best’ team without wholesale changes. I think we only used 14/15 players when we finished runners up all those years ago. Ok, game was less intensive, but much rougher, and the players were tough rather than the top athletes they are now - so all things relative. I remember playing one Saturday then cup replay at Forest on the Tuesday and second replay there on Thursday. Car never cooled down. Played again Saturday I think. Train less if you have lots of games.
