He's like a giant powder puff. Offers very little. Doesn't press, doesn't tackle. I can see he's got ability, just not sure why he seems scared to use it. However: he. has. scored. a. goal. Which is more than you can say for Celar.

Has positional ability, seems a bit intimidated by it all.
Then again, we just didn't want it enough last night as a team and that comes from the manager prioritising a division in which we aint going up or down.

After last night it looks like the best central two are Field and Varane. When Chair is back, playing on the left, Dembele in the ten, and Saito/ Chair/ Andersen on the right, a solid two in front of the defence, that ought work. The problem is having one striker. And the middle two not being able to play telling forward passes.

I quite like him tbf, technically very tidy (was very good for the Smyth header that was saved before our goal).
Agree he could def put himself about a bit more though given he's a unit. Def a player though IMO & will only get better the more he plays.

Not convinced by him so far. Anonymous last night. Doesn't tackle, doesn't really pass, and for a guy who is 6ft 4 doesn't even go up for headers. Yes we know it takes time to adjust to the Champ but it also comes down to attitude/ desireThe British Bulldog spirit vs the Viking pillager. No contest.

Not sure what his best position is. Marti seems to have the same dilemma. Paid a significant transfer fee for him.

He unarguably prioritised the league. Whenever I go to a game and see unmarked players standing still for more than about 5 seconds, I know they are either clueless or not bang up for it.

personally really rate madsen and think he will be the best of our signings. yes he's lightweight, bad in the air and defensively not there but those are all issues the club would have known about and figured that they could coach it into him.
he's got great vision, good on the ball, good passing range and carries the ball. hasn't shown much of it yet but there have been glimmers of it in games imo.
we've gone down a completely different route with signings and with one eye on the future. if we wanted to sign someone like madsen from the championship with all the other attributes we'd be looking at the best part of £15m. we've signed works in progress types, players who need to adapt to this league and develop their game. i'm all for that personally as it's a more shrewd yet ambitious approach than signing a tried and tested player like morgan fox. guys like fox has their level, they're decent but he's not going to be a player you can sell on or count on to get you to the prem.
let's give all these players time. frey was a bit hopeless last season but has come into this season raring to go.

I think there is a player in him. When I hear people say players need to settle I can see it in his case. He gets in the box so think he will score goals plus for equaliser yesterday it was him keeping the move going winning the header.
Hes one I would give time too.

Reading this thread is like we have bought players that are still on a yts scheme
Should they not be able to do all these things or are they apprentices
We havnt got time for players to learn on the job
Madson Varane Celar - Step up now

How the hell has no one commented on his performance today.
he was diabolical, utter turd.
their goal was caused by him and his farking perm hairstyle just standing, rooted to the ground and watching the ball pass him by.
he could not even be bothered to throw out a leg and try to intercept it.
farking useless cant.

Whilst I wouldn’t quite express it in those terms he was by some distance our worst player today. Andersen also had a shocker but at least he didn’t hide and got into two of our best shooting positions but Madsen is just the big friendly ghost who might as well have been watching in R Block for all his influence on the game.

We signed players from abroad because they’re cheaper. But it also means they take longer to adapt. I have to say I was concerned that a big lad like him wasn’t good in the air and not that physical but I trust Marti and the new regime….for now.

Thought he was okay. Doesn't bust a gut but that isn't the basis of a good player.
Anderson was poor today, which is a shame as I think a confident Anderson will be an asset.

he had a bad game today but there were still a few moments worth noting. sometime in the second half he delicately passed the ball through a gap in a congested area by the millwall box, think dembele managed to get onto it but was quickly dispossessed.
few other nice passes here and there but he desperately needs to come up to speed with the physicality and defensive basics. he's pressing much more than he did in his first appearances but there is still lots missing from his game.

Think we have to play 2 of Varanne, Field and Colback in central mid against the physical sides.

Agreed, a few nice touches. He does tend to drift around when the other team is pressing. That is one problem with Chair too. Hope it can be corrected.
