Mental game. Celar should never feature for us again. Incredibly lucky with that disallowed goal. Still, the positives are that we showed enough fight to get back into it, and with Paal returning we already look a bit better on the left. Thought Ashby was dire apart from a couple of moments, hopefully he won't feature again either. Nardi made a worldy of a save to keep us in it second half. Not good for the old ticker.
I'd say there's a glimmer of hope, and with further returnees, we've got a chance. A slim one, I'll grant you, but it ain't over yet!

Better performance. Partly because Stoke played so deep it gave us lots of possession but our only tactic was to get it out wide and hope for a cross - pretty basic.
Missed penalty and hit the post twice.
That said Stoke also hit woodwork and another day their "goal" would not have been disallowed.
Thought we edged it but not much in it.

2nd Half Summary
As usual looked more of a threat with Smyth off the pitch. Disagree with the sub as would have kept Madsen on who'd been having a good game, and the formless flaneur off. Lloyd provided us with extra zip and energy but ultimately not enough to secure the win. Shout out to young Morrison who was solid at the back all game. Good to see Paal back, giving us better shape with Ashby reverting to his preferred side. Saito's corner led to the goal; good to see him and Varane continuing to settle into Championship football. A lot of youth holding their own 2nd half (with likes of Morgan, Lloyd, Ashby) which is encouraging.
Overall a well eked out draw.

Lloyd quite lively. But yeah, any fans who thought Lloyd and Morgan were the missing links were probably being optimistic. Neither ready for this level.

Just got in from my other distraction - picked up anew motorbike this afternoon  Sounds like an eventful game. Just think what a huge lift a late winner would have given us going forward. I still have faith that Marti is right for us - just hope he doesn’t lose the dressing room, because that would mean the end of his time at Loftus Road. We need recruits in January to 'do a Chris Martin’ for us. |
