Possibly nothing more complicated than Dieng has had a chance to develop away from here and not under the constant gaze of our own fans. No doubt he has made his fair share of mistakes and learnt from them, with the benefit of us not seeing them, not costing us points and therefore, not subjected to the vitriol.
Whilst there have been many exceptions, Lumley did get put into the firing line quite young and earlier than we probably hoped.
Having said that, there can be absolutely no excuse for a professional footballer not to be reasonably and consistently accurate with their passing. Pretty sure even I could play a ball to anywhere on the pitch from the relative space and freedom he would benefit from in his own area. That’s assuming I didn’t fall over trying.😂

And unless your blind you will see that Dieng is already playing with the ball Nonsense. so he don’t pass the ball out?

so he don’t pass the ball out? He does, but is quite happy to lump it as and when. He doesn't fuck about and is prepared to go route one (remember that horrendous Dykes miss in the last game before Chaz came back? SD set that up).
I suspect that at some point MW realised he was going to have to compromise and vary the diet a bit because it was costing us big time. Or it could have just been that Dieng is more his own boss in that regard, and I like that in a keeper.
Senny reminds me of Nick Pope who should be England's no.1 (and is having another blinder this evening). He doesn't fuck about either.

Lumley`s confidence was ruined when he was forced to play five-a-side in his own area. From what I can recall, that`s how bad it was.

exactly. You can see he’s a calm and good decision maker in everything he does. Knows when to pass and when to lump and when come for ball etc

Pope is literally told to pump it forward though. Dieng isn't told to, as far as I know but does if he needs to. I think Kelly and Lumely were both over playing by over listening and not using their brain to know go long. Lets not forget Ezes goal that started from Lumley passing it out, so it did work but you have to be smart about it. Dieng is just a better goalkeeper though; safer hands, better positioning and a better shot stopper.

calm and good decision maker These are the crucial qualities he brings over Lumley and Kelly. I noticed this first time I saw him play. Oozes confidence and the perfect temperament which automatically rubs off on his back 3 or 4. And his starting position is always spot on, which then makes his saves always look easier. This was a particular weakness in Lumley's game.

Can cope with Lumley as a number 2 as he’s not totally rubbish he can pull saves off he just has an element of the rob greens about him great save one minute fuck up and goal the next

Lumely was only ever a number 2 or 3. Got lucky to be our number one as Ingram was ruined by being a number 2 when he should have been a number 1, but Smithies was way to good.
Btw, has anyone seen how many under 21 and under 18 goalkeepers we have?!

Good point. Given there is really only one true spot for keepers perhaps at that age it’s better to widen your field of options in the hope you have a gem rather then just stick to two

Stupidiest thing last 2-3 games has been Seny's long balls. Why gift the ball away for nothing?

Tests positive according to this news agency: new.in-24.com/News/300307.htmlMind you, they seem more interested in plugging Bitcoin and may not be the most credible source on the planet. If true, hope Seny's not too badly affected and fit back in time for Luton in nine days' time (another bloody Friday night game).

Don't believe for one minute he actually caught something.
Always prefers to punch things away, even when it's easier to catch it.
So must be fake news.

I had a mini heart attack when I saw "departing Dieng" and for a moment forgot about the AFCON.

Did anyone think he was at fault for their first? The shot came straight at him so perhaps should have got something on it?
