Doesn't that leave us a bit light on keepers?

Doncaster should be a better proving ground for him than Dundee and Doncaster should be there or thereabouts in their division. I wish him well.

Suspect we might get shot of Lumley. someone needs to want him Fact he reclaimed his spot end of season suggests me he’s safe No point having Dieng, Lumley, Kelly and Barnes plus the young Polish lad in reserve mate. Can get shot of 1, probably 2 of those. Probably Lumley and Barnes for me.

But why put Lumley back in if he’s the one out in weeks?

We should get the Charlton keeper + another in, Imo. Dieng is the only one I would keep.

Still would like to see a proven keeper with experience to help these lads when they go through the rough spells. Big ask to give the gloves to a promising keeper who has been out on loan behind a defence that conceded 84 goals and only had 6 clean sheets in 50 or so games.

We don't have an experienced keeper, we should make that a priority. As Shania suggested, Westwood wouldn't be a bad punt imo.

Kieran Westwood is or was an excellent Keeper and I think out of contract ...with a reputed salary of £30k per week

Bit like When we had Cerny was no2 but more then capable of being first choice Exactly like that Westy, We cannot have Dieng go from being a loanee to number 1 with the same back up keepers as one bad run of games could set him back. Good experienced guy to learn from who is still expecting to be a starter. Westwood if in our wage bracket would be exactly the sort to bring in.

If we brought in an expierienced Keeper who we expected to be the No 1 would Dieng sign a contract ?
I would suspect Lumley will start the season behind some new defenders and for him to probably cost us points enabling Dieng to be given his chance if he indeed signs a new contract.
I honestly don’t think the club could warrant bringing in another Keeper until they decide that all Four currently on the books are not fit for purpose or at least One is sold.

Are you saying you would be happy to put Dieng behind a back four who conceded 84 goals as first choice with Kelly or Lumley as back up? Both who have question marks over them, Barbet will not suddenly become Richard Dunne mark 2 next season so one bad run and his confidence will be shot then we are back to square one. Only have to go back to the difference Paddy made to our side of 10/11 to realise the value of having a proven experienced keeper.Keeper's should save you points not cost you them.

Honestly, I don't think there is much in it between Lumley and Kelly. If we are being brutally honest, both probably aren't good enough for a side that wants to compete in the top half of this league. I think the fact that Kelly is a bit more comfortable with the ball at his feet makes him a better keeper for MW. I'm hoping Dieng kicks on and competes for the number 1 spot next season though!

we have way too many shyte keepers on our books.
we only need 3 keepers in a squad so get rid of poppadom hands, kelly and that random signing dillon barnes, sign an experienced keeper, make dieng number two for the time being and loan out the polish kid to get experience.
lumley and kelly both need to go though.

Yes..the reason is MW has been quoted “ I expect at least one experienced CB to come in before the season start “ Im actually hoping for Two good CB to come in which may enable Barbet to either be a back up or switched to LB as I don’t think he’s a particularly good central defender. Dieng has been out on loan for a couple of seasons to gain experience and will be rightly judged at the beginning of the season as to wether he’s better than the other Three Keepers...that is of course if he’s not sold as there was speculated interest from Brum. Any player needs to be given a chance to play to prove their worth that place in the team...sitting on the bench as understudy to an experienced Keeper is not what Dieng requires at this stage , he needs game time imo.

Lumley was great on loan before he came back to us at a lower level the same as Dieng. Keepers are the one area of the field where there is no hiding place and a promising keeper could be ruined by playing in a team who manager does not coach defenders to defend. We have never replaced Smithies and it has shown.

Serious question Hitman..Would you rather have experienced good Central Defenders , expensive Strikers and good replacements for Eze and BOS ? Do you think buying an experienced Keeper over trying Dieng is more of an urgent requirement ? I personally think the vid you put up yesterday will probably be realistic in relation to what MW will actually be able to spend in this window.
