Some of the abuse directed at Scowen (and in fact a lot of the abuse thrown around on Twitter in general) was/is way below the belt. Stupid for his family to get involved though. Better for Scowen to pocket his 10 grand a week, accept that whilst this stuff is unsavoury, its unfortunately part of the job and rise above it.
Bottom line though, if he's that unhappy that he can't celebrate a cracking goal like that, then he should be looking to move this window. Life's too short to be working/living under conditions that make you that unhappy!

I only occasionally use Twitter but it does strike me as the medium that attracts the most idiots. I doubt many of them go to games either.
For what it is worth I jut think we were 4-1 up and he had just scored in injury time so didn't think it was any big deal.

He's just scored one of the best goals he'll score in his career. He doesn't even smile, let alone celebrate.

What I do find a bit odd is that people seem to always find something negative to say (that isn't directed at you Grant) - We thrashed Cardiff 6-1 and let's look at Lumley's error then we thrash Swansea 5-1 and look at Scowen's reaction to his goal. Call me old-fashioned but I like to enjoy these rare results.

I’ll never get my head round why any real football fan would want to give a player a hard time for not being good enough. Players don’t pick themselves managers do and all the player can do is give 100% which Scowen does. I remember Alan McDonald getting slated by a section of fans around me in the paddock in his early playing days and you could tell it unsettled him.

Scowen always gives 100% , he can miss place passes , be reckless at times and a lot of times he's not up to scratch but insulting him won't make him play better or leave

I like Scowen but I would bet he didn't celebrate as he's struggling to pin down a place in the starting XI and knows he'll be on the move soon.

No, I must admit I had no idea what had happened with Scowen on Twitter either Vesp. And to be clear I wasn't having a pop at you (as you were the OP) I am on several forums and FB groups etc and this has been spoken about quite a bit on those as well as the Lumley error at 6-0.

Fair enough. Not the best player at this level but always put a shift in. He'll do well there. Good luck to him. Just hope he doesn't see the whole of the Rangers fan base as the brain dead cunts on Twatter

Shame it's all ended on such a sour note, Scowen always gave his all. I think the fact he's having to drop down a division tells you all you need to know though.

He left us with probably the goal of the season too. Good luck Josh, you deserve better than the treatment you received at QPR.

All the best to the fellow. Not one of my favourites but no one deserves their family to get grief over a game of football. I read yesterday comments made on twitter about young Clarke played about an hour this season and our blockhead supporters forming a very clear opinion of the boy.

I get a lot of grief for calling some of our so called fans cunts but I am not wrong am I? I was following a thread about Nahki Wells and someone felt the need to point out how fucking useless Joe Lumley is on it. I will not be happy at all if Joe is driven out of the club the way Scowen has been; what is it with QPR fans? It's Ryan Manning, It's Karl Henry, It's Nedum Onuoha it's... well you get the picture, if someone feels the need to point out to someone the technical inefficiencies of what they are doing, that's one thing, but continually posting that someone is fucking shit etc. is wrong and should have no place in discussions.

No you’re not wrong mate. Social media is the problem unfortunately giving every bellend with a smartphone the ability to coat off anyone and hide behind it. I absolutely guarantee they wouldn’t say it to their faces. We all say for the boys to stay off social media and ignore what they read but it must get to them. Good luck to josh, decent honest lad who only ever tried his best. Will do well there. It’s not just our fans though mate, every single professional club has its fair share of wankers, granted we do seem to have some absolute weapons associated with us though

I maybe wrong but my guess would be the instant generation who post that shit online. Lumley has been shit and I would hazard a guess that all those mistakes were not deliberate! I was shocked by reading that about young Clarke who looked off the pace and to me was trying too hard to impress at a new club. 19 year old boy that we should get behind and support when in the hoops.

You know, what you said about them saying it to the players faces, I honestly believe that the club have prepared them both as players and as people and I would be very surprised if they responded to something like that with anything other than something like "Well you're entitled to your opinion" and just walk off. Shaun Derry might have lumped them but the players now all know that you can't be dealing with those situations in a manner which blackens the clubs image. Correct me if I am wrong, but I never hear anyone say that they saw x,y or z out on the piss and acting leery like you would a few years ago with players who shall remain nameless LOL Paul Hall seems to have done great work on producing well rounded people as well as ballers in the academy.
