As I stated above, we will need at least two, if not three years to see the benefit of the sea change that has been undertaken by the club and I really hope the fans can keep the faith. Stability is obviously the ideal but you clearly have huge faith in Warburton if you're prepared to give him 2-3 years, when he's only been in charge for 5 competitive games. Furthermore, it's not just the fans that you're asking to keep faith but the boardroom too! I understand your comments but what do you see as the alternative if we don't stick with him and his style of play? We have just got rid of almost everyone from last season and introduced a full team of new players. It's my gut feel that it won't be the board that will lose faith, they will have been well briefed as to objectives and timelines for this type of drastic change and would have signed off on it. Even after only four competitive matches there are strong signs that we may well have finally got our act together as a club. Look at the managers we have had in the last three years, have we progressed in that time? It is times like this that one does well to remember just how bad Sir Alex Fergusons first season at Man Utd. was, and how the fans wanted him sacked but the board stood by him.

I understand your comments but what do you see as the alternative if we don't stick with him and his style of play? Certainly with the style of play as this is one of the reasons we have a DoF i.e. to provide that continuity, irrespective of who the manager is. My point is projecting and committing that far into the future after just a handful of games inevitably carries it's risks. It's my gut feel that it won't be the board that will lose faith, they will have been well briefed as to objectives and timelines for this type of drastic change and would have signed off on it. I agree with you there, although I suspect they'll appraise things at the end of the season depending on how it's gone. Look at the managers we have had in the last three years, have we progressed in that time? Again, agreed. None of them could be regarded as successful appointments, overall.

Nobody likes losing and of course we need to find a way to win. Last night we were unlucky not to get a penalty straight after we equalised. If we had been given that and scored I think we would have held out. Fine margins and all that.
If winning is everything no matter the style then we should be taken to task.......if we have a realistic chance of promotion!
Since we don't, I don't see win at all costs as the main objective. This is a team in development, learning and getting used to each other. While they're at it they are entertaining and full of potential.
To carry on as if we have lost out on promotion after 4 games and hang the useless fuckers who cost us is a tad dramatic. Our goal this season is avoid relegation which we will do. We'll lose a few games on the way.
I am more hopeful about the future than I have been for a long time. If my mood is influenced on a game by game basis then I'm in for a roller coaster ride most of it hurtling downwards!

Speaking of defence, I just watched the highlights and the 3rd goal is a disgrace. Criminal defending from all involved. what about the pen Ginge look what went on before the Barbet challenge. Geezer strolls past two players with no effort to stop him It was ridiculous Westie. Perhaps if they'd done their job Barbet wouldn't have felt like he had to lunge in. For the third goal, their full back chipped 2 of our players to get it to their winger in acres of space and not one of them closed him down. He had all the time in the world to pick out Surridge, who had Hall and Barbet absolutely nowhere near him. Dreadful. By and large I thought we played very well in the game, but defending like that ruins everything.

People can gush all they want about the type of football we play, I'm still gonna have the hump if we get beat. Only takes 1 or 2 moments in a game to undo all your hard work!

So who is the defence coach? Do we still have one of those? Because someone needs to get a grip. Its not rocket science.
Re the 3 - 5 year deal: nope. You have to earn the right to put your feet under the table for that long these days. But maybe we can stay in love for a bit longer than we normally do.
Incidentally the instability referred to in this thread is Uncle legacy, pure and simple. With him still involved, and awful lot still up in the air, no one can guarantee anything. Just try and enjoy the ride.
