Wow. We'd be really rattling about in a 45K stadium, wouldn't we? Yuck.

45k would be horrific for us, waayyyy too big.

Other talking point is that 3 of the 4 options would make us tenants as the council will fund the project.

If it was a stadium that seated 30k, but with enough room to add another 15k seats should the need arise, I'd have no problem. 30k max at the moment though.

Does this mean that we have made peace with the council do you think?

Option 4 looks like the best bet to me.

Option 4 looks like the best bet to me. Definately ,not owning our own ground and leasing it off the council sounds well dodgy to me .

To be honest a very long lease wouldn't be a problem. I seem to recall on Warren Farm we have a 999 year lease.

Never in favour of a massive stadium but one that was designed to be easily extended if and when needed.

Why lease off the council and how would they recoup or generate any money from naming rights for the stadium?? Cannot see it as a goer and could potentially seriously backfire on us if Fernandes flogs Loftus Rd and leaves us not owning a new ground.

A 45k, paid for by the council is alright by me.
Plenty of scope to reduce ticket prices and offers of kids for a quid promotions.
All about growing the fan base and would not cost the club a penny to build.
999 leasehold required though.

Problem is the economic context has changed a lot since the spate of new stadia building which kicked in a few years ago. It isn't a panacea. The money is in media rights and marketing these days. Bums on seats matter, but far less than they ever did especially in the EPL.
You have to look at the motivation for this. It's simply in order to get a property deal done at LR. We're a football club. Get it sorted on the park, max out the hostility potential of the old girl by utilising the Lower Loft etc, and feel great when standing comes back as it is all over Europe. It will happen.

From what i hear ,the capacity wont increase at all with safe standing , it will be basically the seat you are in at the moment but standing up with a barrier in front of you , i may be ill informed but it certainly wont be like the packed surging terraces of the 70s/80s

Is anyone else as concerned as I am that we'd be renting off the council and not actually own the stadium?

Is anyone else as concerned as I am that we'd be renting off the council and not actually own the stadium? I'm worried that Labour council would make us host black, lesbian, disabled women's puppet workshops at half time. And make us employ quotas to ensure we have woman and obese people in our team.

And i`m concerned the council goes Tory and we only sign players who have the right school tie , and correct breeding. There would be no working class lads coming through the ranks then , only players from Eton who have inherited their contracts . What what !

it certainly wont be like the packed surging terraces of the 70s/80s I'd take my chances again anytime.... anyone who hasn't experienced that has missed out. Old skool terraces were fine - compare the numbers that stood there over the years vs the number of fatalities. Terracing per se wasn't the problem. Obviously if it goes over capacity then you have a problem but there is no reason for that if things are managed properly.

Stats Loftus Road Stats Capacity 18,439 Average Attendance 17,295 Record Attendance 35,353 (QPR v Leeds United (1974)) Pitch Size 102 x 66 (6732)
how the fuck did we squeeze 35 thousand into loftus road?
