We released quite a few players recently which Dave Mc highlighted does not look good on Les and Chris. He pointed out the hit rate and development of players doesn’t look that good when you see numbers released.
Then my lad plays to a reasonable standard in U10s and youth coach got chatting to me about qpr. He said qpr known for having some great prospects but their decisions on players are questionable. He pointed out 2 players we released who then were signed up by Chelsea and Tottenham. Can’t remember names to be honest. One played in some final recently i think.
Then another chap who has a lad at Millwall youth said that qpr tend to focus on physical side rather than technique. He also said Millwall stuff is at youth level but couldn’t be arsed to check that.
All just opinions but.....
Anyone else heard similar things or is this all rubbish. I mention it because our new strategy on tight budget and developing young players is key.....but we need to have the right people making the decisions.

Maybe the Brentford way is better. Abolish the academy and pick up the ones released elsewhere. We seem to be doing a lot of that anyway.

tbh though our academy is the best its been in 20 years. lumley, chair and eze have all been picked up from other clubs and look like they have a bright future with us. furlong came through the ranks too. there are always gunna be players that don't make it and its just one of those sad things.

I think that story was poor and saw few people challenge him on it
What we have done is what 99% of other clubs do at this time of the year release those who we think are surplus. It’s not a Les, Ramsey or QPR thing it’s football
You can’t keep them all. Recall on old board when we were struggling few years back and youth getting beat up each week people saying why we keeping this lot
We released some players, same time last year we secured Eze, chair, Manning and this week shodipo.
Swings and roundabouts

Those 3 are slightly different no? They’re picked up at 18+, no? I’m talking about the U18s. Maybe it’s better as Davie says to just pick them up later ie after 18.

Think we have released kids every season, and so do other clubs, that's how it goes. Some impress then drop off, others develop later - just have to trust CR to do his job

There's always the potential to let a few good ones go. The bigger clubs can attract the kids and they can also offer them a far more attractive package...match tickets, training gear/kits, food..etc. We can't compete with that.
They typically move kids around, make a bigger kid who's usually a striker play in defense with older kids and the like. I think there are some archaic practices in football coaching for sure.
The pressure can be a real turn off for many kids and I guess you're separating the wheat from the chaff each time they move up a level. As we let someone go we also pick up cast offs ourselves. Sterling came from our youth system lets hope we find a few more like him.

And don't forget Derby released Walker. The only player who has come through our academy is Furlong. Players get released at 18 because they are then eligible for a Professional Contract.

Without names we can't judge whether we have released good prospects or not.

QPR focus on the physical? Smyth, Felix (just released) Chair, Manning all small(ish) and definitely with good technique. I feel inclined to call BS on that comment. I am struggling to come to terms with the club/ Les being slated for a decision to let some of our youngsters go, after a couple of seasons of having the most youngsters getting into the first team this century. Tilt was let go due to a disciplinary issue and Felix wasn't happy at QPR and been wanting to find another club for a while now. Omar Ali was a surprise for me and maybe that is one that we may regret but, we'll see. Based on recent reports, letting Cole Kpekawa go looks like having been a very good decision AND we got decent money for him.

Wallace and Osayi-Samuel play in QPR Under-23 gameBy West London Sport 23/09/2019 Lee Wallace and Bright Osayi-Samuel both played for QPR’s development side on Monday afternoon. Summer signing Wallace, who is yet to make his debut for the R’s, has been working his way back to fitness after a hip problem. He played 80 minutes of the match against Crystal Palace at QPR’s Harlington training ground, where Osayi-Samuel played for an hour. Matt Smith and keeper Liam Kelly also featured. Rangers came from behind to win the game 3-1. Teenage winger Amrit Bansal-McNulty scored and later set up goals for Lewis Walker and Dylan Duncan. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/football-crystal-palace-lee-wallace-osayi-samuel-updated

Forgot about Lewis Walker. I thought he looked pretty handy towards the end of last season. Ody Alfa is the one to watch, after Amrit Bansal-McNulty. The first is a ready made replacement for BOS and AB-M is a replacement for Chair. It's almost like QPR have a plan and are sticking to it I was hoping Charley Kendall was going to make an impression this season but he appears to be injured again

You keep an eye on U23s Esox??? I have been watching the live streams since the beginning of last season and the occasional U18's game that get streamed. I am also friends with a supporter who goes to all their games and we get together and chat about them before or after games. Last season we had a really good lad called Chay Tilt that we brought in from WBA and I would have said that he would have made it into the 1st team squad this year but he punched his own goalkeeper in a training match and the club bombed him out. Others to watch out for over the next few seasons are Deshane Dalling, another from WBA, Jake Frailing, Joe Gubbins, Ben Wells, Nathan Carlyle and we have already seen snatches of Faysal Bettache but he quiet today by all accounts.

I asked him provide occasional pieces for AKUTR'S too so you can get a more detailed article about the kids, I don't think he misses many U23/ U18/ U16 games at R's and is well known at the training ground so picks up some good insight.

I know Simon very slightly, he was pointed out to me once, but my connection is that I take turns to drive down to games with Dave Thomas and help him carry the boxes etc. before the match.

Esox if you have interest in U23 and watch regularly it would be good if you could give regular updates and thoughts on what there doing. Love knowing we’re developing youth but don't have time to keep close eye on it, so updates like above are appreciated

I will do West. I don't know if you were aware or not but Eze's younger brother, Chimaechi, is a striker in the U18's. Looks just like him too LOL.
