For some reason a trip to Colchester many years back popped into my head. My group found ourselves in one of the local pubs that happened to double up as a strip bar, much to our delight. Getting to their old ground, the away end was like a shed. The game was crap and we lost but I remember some old boy tearing a youngster a new one for giving stick to then new signing Damien Stewart.
Another one is Wycombe and getting stuck on that hill next to the ground where they would allow people to park. Matthew Rose in his mini getting as frustrated as the rest of us.

Only went to Layer Road once - a league cup tie in the late Nineties which we won but lost the home leg and Lua Lua scored a hat trick. Abiding memory was the ladies toilet being inside the men's! [br I went to that game wat a dive the away end was

Southend away in 1997. First time we had played there for over 20 years.
We took thousands down there with most not having tickets and no intention of going to the match.
Hundreds of us in a strippers pub called the Foresters Arms - the girls made a fortune that day - and the last stripper had had one of her friends write 'QPR' on her arse with the loop of the P around a very intimate part of her backside!
Most of us going to the ground arrived about 20 minutes into the match because of how late we left.
Other memories from that day is Danny Dichio's family trying to start a fight with some of us for slagging him off for not signing a new contract.

Didn't go to the night match a few years later but you're right about '97. Southend didn't expect the numbers or ' nice, little QPR' to behave the way we did and were shocked. Really stands out as one of the great away days of the 90s and the sort of day that doesn't seem to happen now. Hardly any women or kids, just thousands of pissed up blokes having a day out and a laugh.

I remember standing by one as he radioed in to say we were refusing to leave and being asked how many of us there were.. His supervisor came back quite shocked and told him to say please!

Always laugh when I think of my first visit though. Went with VS, his son and my Dad. There were no concessions prices in the away end so V said we'd all go in the home end next to the away end. Him and my Dad got clocked by a few Southampton who tried to get gobby until V offered them all out and the police moved us into that awful corner pen to stop them getting hit ๐ We won 4-1.

They'd been apparently waiting 8 years to get us after the trouble up there in 82 during which a few Rangers were eventually chased along the beach by mounted Police!

He was definitely fighting on the pitch as he wasn't playing for Ipswich that night and I'm sure he got arrested too.

It was a fun day but only after 10 minutes when everyone realised the outcome was already agreed so we could all relax. Massive game outside the Bush Ranger afterwards.

Anyone else on here on the LSA coach to Wolves in the League Cup around 97 ish?
That's when a group of Wolves - not The Subway Army admittedly - came up to the coach trying to intimate us and most the coach got off to have a go at them!

Good memories. Blackpool was an early sunday k/o if i remember correctly. I know there was big trouble with a leeds lot on the friday night. We left LG at 5 am and drove up on the sunday-lively before game. Ob held a good lot for ages in town after. Southampton was always a great away day...hated those pens you were put in but you could give their fans loads of grief.

They were far better days as a football fan and I'm lucky that my Old Man and his friends used to take me so often and all over the country. Saw and heard so many things that a kid shouldn't but we didn't end up as snowflakes. Blackpool was a Sunday morning kick off partly because of the trouble in 82. The Saturday night was said to be mental.
