I am completely aware of the shortcomings in the side and, as I can't possibly have any input into changing it, nor the qualifications to do so, I am in the process of trying to defer from commenting on those shortcomings as I know, from my days of playing, that I didn't need anyone to tell me that I had fucked up as, I can assure you, I knew. Just because someone has chosen to be a professional footballer it doesn't mean that they have to accept vitriolic abuse as a part and parcel of doing so. With fifty eight years of following the R's under your belt can I assume that you have kids, and possibly grandkids? How would you feel if you went to watch them play in their chosen sports with a load of cunts shouting abuse at them at every little mistake, or perceived mistake? I saw this happen in the Hillingdon U10's league years ago and I took my son out of the team and took him to Uxbridge Cricket Club where this behaviour is pretty much unheard of. He didn't like it but he, and his team mates were quite unnerved hearing adults screaming abuse at nine year olds. It's no different when it comes to screaming abuse at young men playing their sport either. We still haven't eradicated racism from football, we are a long way from eradicating homophobia from football and we are a fucking long way from eradicating bullying from football, because that is exactly what it is, bullying. In deference to the members on here, I enjoy coming on here the most lately as this verbal bullying isn't so prevalent, and there is a lot of well reasoned critiquing after games. There are still a few whose initial reaction to any defeat is slate players who were involved and not factor in that maybe it was just that the opposition were better. I have said this many, many times; no-one ever got better by being constantly berated and undermined. I look back now and I feel quite ashamed that I used to join in with the "Wanker, wanker, wanker Wilks" chants; all because he wasn't Rodney Marsh. I am trying to stay off sites after a defeat now as it does get under my skin reading the abuse doled out to our players by people who say they are fans and it makes me feel that the bullies are winning and I am too cowardly to stand up to them but I don't want to spend my retirement getting stressed out so I take a step back. Yes, I tend to avoid forums after a defeat. Ironically that is when they are at their busiest but I do understand why. People take defeat in different ways and are passionate about their team.

I think I remember seeing the wanker score 5 in a match so not a complete wanker😂😂 Yep, I was there, against Oxford, and he scored all five. The boo boys didn't let up on him afterwards though. As I said, I feel quite ashamed that I used to join in on it.

We have all done things we are ashamed of I am sure.

It never looked on the cards (Brentford fans even ironically joined in with the pigbag celebrations after the first goal as there was so little time left) His rant afterwards lost him a lot of the goodwill the comeback had produced unfortunately.

When i worked at rangers we were playing the wombles and Meaker and Jones squared up to each other in the tunnel and it all kicked off😡
