interesting rumour that and difficult to judge whether warbs would go for it. he's obviously a very focused manager who wants to compete but i think he'd be an excellent appointment for the U21s given his experience working with young players plus he may even believe going there gives him a better chance to further his career. whether that be by doing well and getting a prem job or even doing a southgate, who knows.
he's certainly done a great job with us this year after our dreadful run of form.

Next manager here if it happens in the near future will be Ainsworth, and I'm not at all sure that's a good idea. You can hear it now 'loves the club' 'taken Wycombe as far as he can' 'can work on a tight budget' 'good knowledge of lower league players' blah, blah - and the club will think it keeps fans happy.

I don't think so, but only because the Ollie meltdown is still fresh in the memory. There have been Warburton FA rumours for a while now, and he'd be a far better choice for the U21s than the walking disaster currently in situ. They haven't had a single shot from open play in the last two games. It's that bad. If this happens, it'll be really interesting because the new appointment will tell us a lot about the overall ambition of the club. Or lack of. Incidentally, D day for Boothroyd is tomorrow evening. In Croatia. As for Frank, I think he'll do OK, but he needs club time.

Warburton working with kids? Our salvation has been loans brought in - where has he been working with kids? his path into management started out as a coach for thevu8s at watford and he rose up to become the head of their academy. i think he had a similar role at brentford prior to becoming their sporting director then manager. he has developed some younger players here too imo, eze and BOS both became quality players under warbs last season.

Warbs in u21s England actually makes a lot of sense. Same style of play as the seniors as well (playing out) so it makes sense there.

Zero chance with Lampard coming here. He will cost too much. He will want Premier League football. No way does he go from Chelsea to a small budget Championship team.

I doubt Lampard would get a PL job without some kind of proven track record and that might have to be earned in the Championship.
That said, I wouldn't have a problem Lampard coming to QPR - but he'd never do it for any number of reasons.
My guess is that he might go with one of the relegated Prem teams, or look to Europe to broaden his learning.
Or a there's stand-out position going in Scotland, where as manager of Celtic, he could renew old rivalries with Steven Gerrard...

You could be right Corbray - though I had kind of included Newcastle in my list of relegated clubs! And yes, Palace might be a good for him, with minimal disruption to his home life. Agreed, Lampard had a pretty impressive first season, but the second season (considering his big spending) was poor - only emphasised by Tuchel's relative success with the same players. With so much at money stake, I just wonder if that might cause club owners to look for proven consistency.

Anyone know how we’re looking to keep the players who joined in January? I want us to keep all of them but in order: Johansen, Austin, Field and de Wijs.

Anyone know how we’re looking to keep the players who joined in January? I want us to keep all of them but in order: Johansen, Austin, Field and de Wijs. de wijs is apparently a given according to reports, i think he's been great in the games he's played and hopefully he isn't injury prone as he's missed a few already. field is another one that warbs has said he'd love to keep. we have an option to buy but hoos has been pretty tight lipped about signing him. johanson is dependent on if fulham stay up. he's said he's happy at qpr and doesn't want to move from the area. no word on austin as of yet but his contract with west brom is up in the summer so i imagine the club have spoken about it with him informally. he wants to move back down south apparently so i could see us bringing him back in. he's been great for us too but hasn't scored bag loads of goals either which probably works in our favour as i imagine they'd be lots of clubs queueing up for him had he scored 10+ lol.
