I think we need to stick the big Swiss fella on from the start.
Even if he’s only 75% fit, I would rather him over our other options right now.
We are getting into a critical stage where we need goals and currently muscles is not giving us anything near that.

Will say this and I genuinely am not saying it to antagonise any posters but if we go into the remaining games with Armstrong leading the line we will go down plane and simple. You need goals to stay up you need to nick one nils and draws we have a striker who puts a shift in that’s not in doubt but he don’t score and he rarely creates. Last night he breaks gets to edge of box looks up sees no one in there so decides to still cross the ball! Why? Hold it up, play it back, try get a corner but don’t just put ball in when no fucker is there. There is a lot of nonsense posted about CB not looking forward to facing him but I would suggest it’s the opposite why would they not want to face him? I’m sure every CB is told get tight and don’t let him turn do that and you have nullified his one and only strength. If he does turn you and go majority of the time there is not outcome. He’s a blunt instrument which don’t work in the position we’re in. I don’t know what the answer is up top remainder of the season but it’s not Armstrong. I get what you are saying and do agree with it to a point, However I would say this Armstrong while not being the finished article and not being great has in the two must win games had a go and showed he was up for the battle. Huddersfield's centre backs blocked him numerous times and Stoke did the same last night. Led to him being very frustrated and ultimately losing his rag. Others on the pitch showed fuck all urgency and it looked like they did not give a fuck about the team or its supporters and that is even more worrying. In both must win games our so called best and creative players have been invisible so that I would suggest is even more of a concern.

Armstrong needs to grow up. If I was a Huddersfield or Stoke CB I’d be laughing my cock off. They’ve done their job, and he’s let them.

I’ve said it before, he comes across very immature.
All the rolling around, play anntics and the yelling and roaring and dramatics. He’s very immature that is clear to see.

He is but he is 20 and learning his trade around some proper shit Im worried about what he’s learning - or, more to the point, what are they teaching him. His attribute is speed yet he’s not clever enough to step away from a defender. They are up his arse, stop him turning and getting away and he doesn’t counter it. Five maybe six times out of ten they can foul him and the decision goes their way because CBs are clever and refs are often swayed by physical presence - ask Peter Crouch. Needle him with an elbow and it’s job done, he lose what concentration he had and he gets subbed.

Ferdinand was guided by Wilkins when he came into the team and Gallen had Ferdinand. Armstrong has Dykes, Chair and Willock so having to learn himself and quickly. I do agree the drama with him needs to stop

Furlong is at the club he was a superb player back to goal and attacking box and he’s clearly good working with youth I would hope he would be doing sessions with him.

Sessions is one thing but on field coaching/mentoring is invaluable to a young inexperienced player learning his trade. Wilkins used to teach Les when and where to make his runs during a game and it made the world of difference. Austin did it to a degree with Dykes, Zamora did it with Austin as well. The senior pros need to rip these gutless players a new one.

What's the most important job for any striker? To score goals, we all know that. But he rarely finds the net and lacks that instinct. He has many good qualities: pace, determination, strength - but strikers are judged on goals ultimately and he simply doesn't tick that box anywhere near regularly enough.

Sinclair needs to sit out Bristol. Impact sub at best.
Frey if lacking fitness just needs to loiter around the 18 yard box.
Don’t have him chasing down every loose ball like a lunatic. Conserve his energy to last the game as he looks like a player given half a chance will take it.
That’s what we need right now.
He only needed 11 mins to score last week and he already went close before that too.
No point waiting for his fitness to be tip top, we’ll be league one by then.

armstrong has improved under Marti, that's pretty clear to see. He looks something like a footballer now; but he isn't the answer yet. Sub, yes.
Agree with giving Frey a start, or even Dykes (I know). Dykes should hopefully have a rocket up his arse now that he has competition for the first time in years.

I don't think we still have a decent striker at the club at all. That is the problem.

I'll be careful what I say on Armstrong as I got my head bitten off in the match thread. I am genuinely really impressed how he has improved. He and Marti deserve huge credit. He has great potential, not necessarily as an out and out striker. Is he too big and bulky to be a winger who cuts in?
In an ideal world he would be on loan in League 1 getting starts and goals.
Starting up top puts huge pressure on him, and every game he doesn't score the pressure must get worse for the poor lad.
But as I said in the match thread and a few have commented above, we have to be ruthless now to stay up - and we need Frey to start as often as fitness allows.
If you won points for bullying defenders and nearly getting them sent off, Sincs would be one of the best strikers in the league. But ever since we lost Naki the biggest on-field question at QPR is "where are the goals going to come from?"
Sinclair, as of 2024, is not the answer to that question.

Armstrong is very raw but has pace and power which is a start for any young player. He is better than last season which is a good sign for us going forward. Yes he could be more clinical but like Dykes before him he does not have too much quality srrvice to work with. I would play him down the middle on Saturday and target Dickie who we know is slow with Joe Hodge in the number 10 role as he can see a pass and release him with a ball on the deck to run onto. Not the shite Smyth was chucking over the top last night.

Cifuentes: Still?
Why is a 20 year old professional footballer tiring when starting a game?
Have they still not sorted out his fitness issues? This 'fitness' problem has been dragging on for two years.
The last 'excuse' given was too many Big Macs and not any/enough dietary guidance.

I hope all the optimism shown towards him turns into some big positives but I’m still not convinced by him. No doubt has strength and pace but the game is so much more than that. Is he really that promising? Play him over Donkey every time because at least he makes something happen, but he’s not the answer long term. Two big improvements in his game - no longer offside all the time (timed runs really well Saturday) and looks up to cross. Would have been an assist for the three points if Willock had kept his footing.

Don't buy that Alan, personally. It doesn't take two years for a 20 year old professional athlete to build up his stamina, unless there's some underlying issue we don't know about.
