Sounds like a player who can see the bigger picture and not PRIMARILY motivated by money.

Good news but I expect there's a relatively low release clause of around £3 million.

Think this will actually have a higher built in release clause actually.

Its not a zero sum game - if we ask for a crazy high release clause then his agent could turn round and say "well if you think he is that good, and you are blocking off a lot of potential moves by setting it so high, we want x in wages."

Good news but I expect there's a relatively low release clause of around £3 million. But if we get 2 more years from him, makes sense all round.

Sensible approach as he will be in demand if he performs as he did last season so protecting his value. Even if he’s not sold we’re better team with him in the side so longer he’s here the better.

He'll be gone in the summer I reckon. probably. it's another faurlin situation in that he's too good for us but questionable injury record makes clubs reluctant to sign him.

Clarke Salters injury record ain't anywhere near as bad as Fairlin's was Corbs. Faurlin had 3 cruciate injuries. JCS has missed a lot of games for sure but he's not had anything as bad as ruptured cruciate, let alone 3 of them.

JCS has missed a lot of games for sure but he's not had anything as bad as ruptured cruciate, let alone 3 of them. for sure, ale's career was completely derailed by serious injuries. just think with JCS though he's 27 now so no resale value and gets a couple of injuries a year which would potentially put some clubs off. it was only really last season that he had an extended number of games for us and that was after missing the first few months of the season. if he had no injury issues we probably would have sold him in the summer imo. one of the best CBs in the league and could arguebly be a reliable squad player for a lower level prem club.

he's 27 now so no resale value Sorry Corbs but can't even get past that statement. Of course he has resale value. He's not even at his peak yet.

If a player is quality there is resale value if others want him everyone has a price imo

I’d definitely go along with that. I can’t believe there was no one sniffing around him. He could play at a higher level but for big money they want you fit to play every week.

"resale for us"Right - which is ultimately all that matters. "but unlikely not for whoever buys him."Secondary, but matters less because they will have had value from him in the time he's been with them

Not just his ability but his leadership and determination. Still pisses me off that so many questioned his attitude and thought he was just faking his injuries in the Beale, Critchley, Ainsworth season. Completely different defence with him in it. Should be captain next season if we don’t sell him.
