The jury is out for me, some good and some bad in his history. One positive though is that he has a good track record of blooding youngsters which is the Rangers blue print. I'll get behind him like every other manager we've had and hope we have a bit of fun next season

I’d be happy with that. Seems to tick a lot of boxes. Let’s me honest they aren’t queuing up for the job

I just don't get the doom and gloom (already!) about Warburton. I also don't get the obsession with a foreign manager. What on earth makes a foreign manager any better? Because they're foreign?? Of all the foreign managers who have managed over here, how many have actually been that successful? On a budget like ours? I think Warburton is the perfect choice. His template for success at Brentford is exactly the kind of approach we want here. We have two more years of FFP enforced austerity to endure and we need someone with the nous to rebuild the squad based pretty much on young and lower-league acquired players. This is a serious task and Warburton is a very smart guy. With Eustace as his second, we have an intelligent home-grown team with excellent knowledge of the league. For me, this is the first proper managerial appointment the board have made since Neil Warnock. Think you are deliberately misunderstanding the point about foreign coaches that is being made. It's about broadening the search and not taking another manager off the merry go round. As I said, i will back Warburton but there is a big wide world of managers out there and sometimes taking a chance on someone thats not a safe bet can pay dividends. It's the same merry-go-round Bri, the 'foreign managers' you speak of, they're on it too. It's just as much if a lottery going for a foreign manager, and realistically, who, with a proven track record would come here? Warburton represents reality over fantasy, IMO of course.

Just a quick point though, my understanding is that the FFP thing will be ongoing now not just for the two years. We will always have to lose less than £39m over a three year rolling time frame (excluding adjustments) Imagine your business having a plan in place to lose £39m every 3 years. Utter madness. Think it’s about time football in general just accepted that salaries for players and agents need to be brought down to realistic levels. You won’t improve a player on £10k pw by paying him 20 times that amount. Might as well be shouting at the moon though, as we all know it’s not going to happen anytime soon.

On what basis? How does that even work? For once, especially given the fact that JE is staying, it looks as though sense has prevailed. Also MW wont take shit from Les. our last 2 (now 3) managers have been out of work has-beens. warburton did great stuff at brentford but they're a very well run and smart club anyway that he knew a great deal about already as he was their sporting director or something before he became their manager. he was a lot more hungry and eager for the job back then. he didn't light the world on fire at his last 2 jobs and had rather mixed reviews from the fans. the stats at Forest and Brentford suggest he's at worst pretty decent at this level. You can't ignore the form in the book. Obviously the second tier in Scotland is relatively meaningless, but his record there is what you'd expect it to be, ie very good.

The brentford fans at one of their messageboards called Grapevine say Eze probably will fit into their B-team and that we have an appaling squad. And hardly a core of players for MW to work with. Ouch..

In fairness to them Shans there loving fact there better then us and are on a high because of it and I don’t blame them. Currently there a relatively well run club where as were still making our way back
I have no doubt the balance will turn again so if I was a bees fan I would enjoy the moment as it won’t last forever. Don’t wish them no ill I like Brentford

I Agree. They are light years ahead of us when it comes to club structure, West Acton. Logistically, their transition of players is worth envying. That`s how we used to do it. Maybe Warburton have some ideas.

When people say Warburton won’t work with a DOF there forgetting this was his initial role at Brentford before he became the manager so if anyone knows how it should work and the relationship between DOF and manager it will be him

Saw a photo on Facebook of Warburton doing a press conference at what looked like QPR. It was taken down though. Geezer probably told off for taking it.
