If a signing backfired, this is a prime example.

CEO Christian Nourry said: what does that mean? ‘Gareth was in charge and he didn’t have a scooby. We all realised that and now we have to get rid of his crap’

I think it's just a diplomatic way to give an explanation without risking anything regarding the Cannon vs. Boavista case.
Basically he signed for us under false pretense, having not sorted out his obligations in Portugal.

As I said in another retread he was signed by Ainsworth and may have fitted his skill requirement and planned style of play but did not fit in with Marti so best to call it a day. In normal circumstances I think we would have been looking to sell him for a small fee or a free transfer or loan but with the Boavista case kicking around no-one is going to touch him and the whole affair must raise some questions about his integrity and legal advisors.
I just hope we did not pay up his full contract - money that we could use in January if required. I think we would have good grounds to cancel his contract given he signed for us when contracted elsewhere.
I have no doubt with Nourry and Marti now in charge we will not see a repeat of this sort problem.
