It is too early to say if Nourry will be a success. Probably won't know for a couple of years at least.
But the initial noises are positive. Got the right manager in, cleared backroom staff who aren't good enough. Re structured the staff as well.
Player wise, we have opened up the scouting, using data like never before (for us) and not just people that have been worked/coached but someone we know. So on paper, doing everything right. Plus giving the School End back to QPR so it appears to be going in the right direction.
Of course, all of these players might flop. We might break FFP. School end might be empty. We might have sacked the wrong people. As of yet, too early to know but the noises so far are good. Hopefully that comes through to the actuals of the club.

He is doing something right.
Naming rights all over the stadium, training kit etc, significant fees being payed for players and what not.
If I was taking a calculated guess, I'd say a lot of this is Eze money that they hope and think will come in at some stage.
I genuinely don't think it's investment money or FFP free cash, I think we're holding onto the hope Eze will go for big money and we'll recoup £8-10m

There are zero guarantees that Eze will be sold. He could get another bad injury at the wrong time and then decide to run his contract down etc. How often was Zaha linked with a massive move to Arsenal etc only to then go on a free. I think he will be sold next year, but as a CEO you shouldn't (in my mind) be spending money that isn't there or in your own control.

We’ve had an experienced man at the top - full of corporate bullshit - and anyone who wanted an old head as manager was dismissed as out of touch and ‘we don’t need a dinosaur’………so we’ve got what many wanted, a foreign coach and a stats man. Brentford R Us. Exactly - my only complaint is we should have done this at least 5 years ago, if not 10! I think getting him in at 16 would be pushing it.

Especially one involving a footballer as opposed to property or equities. For example.

We have money from naming rights, training ground rent, a few play sales, money off the books (wages), plus more Sky money so I think that would account for what we have spent.
You can only spread the costs over 4 years anyway I believe, rather than a whole length of contract (not that I can see doing a Chelsea with contract lengths anyway)

Just depends how much they’ve got a wage bill down but the transfer fees over a few years will help. So with Armstrong money too, I’d say we have a bit of headroom to spend.

Especially one involving a footballer as opposed to property or equities. For example. Agreed. Would be amazed and horrified in equal measure if we were doing that. But one suggestion was we got x amount for Eze playing for England. It’s also conceivable - I put it no more strongly than that - Nourry might have agreed to tear up the sell on clause in return for a smaller, and guaranteed, amount now. The naming rights, the amortisations, the emphasis on youth, all suggest to me a management very conscious of the financial pressures now. But of course we are QPR and the previous CEO assured us that the Warbs spending spree was well within budgets only for it to emerge later that we came within a whisker of going over FFP limits. So every QPR fan is entitled to be cautious and concerned, but at the same time let’s not automatically assume this regime is necessarily as hopeless as the last one.

Brentford R Us. so what is he the stats man or CEO? More to running a club then Just signing players, reasonable start from him so far but if we’re being honest as a CEO I’m guessing he has as much experience in the role as Les had as a DOF. I’m impressed so far but not going fall on my knees just yet. As sponge says if it’s Eze money being spent in advance of the egg hatching that’s dangerous!!! I genuinely don’t think we would do that which begs question where has money come from. Good thread and debate 👍🏽

Not bothered where it’s come from as long as it doesn’t lead to a points deduction.

Increased media rights deal. Willock off the wage bill. Position in FFP cycle favourable relatively speaking, which doesn't give us anything except a little more leeway in the market place. It also sounds like we've picked up sponsorship for everything including the tea lady, and there maybe increased season ticket sales to chuck in.

Read elsewhere that dev squad players don't count towards FFP. Don't know how strictly that is applied (eg if a dev squad player makes some sub appearances, does he still stay outside FFP?). But could explain why we are signing a lot of dev squad players who seem right on the cusp of the first team, and perhaps a bit older, like this 19-year-old Brazilian we are being linked with. Clever ruse to get round the spend cap?
Might be talking utter bollox here but potentially an example of the club finally being a bit more savvy about all this FFP stuff which is enabling it to spend more than we expected.
I do get Westy's reservations about not getting carried away on Nourry (as he and I both warned about Boil Face) but the fact we do have an Oxford graduate in the building who probably has the brains to actually sit down and read the regulations rather than some old lag like Hoos who prob just followed what everyone else was doing - that has to be a bonus, surely?

But on that note, it must be nice to be some of the "bigger" clubs who get to rake it in on jersey sales alone. There are so many ManU, Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern etc. jerseys being worn here in the states, and most of those folks could not even point to any of those places on a map! But they dropped the $85 anyway.

Some development players are close to making it but in the end do not. Parents blame Nourry or Marti or anyone but it’s a hard life.

Definitely sounds competent enough, let’s see how it pans out. The £25m a year loss is still worrying given our ‘valuable’ players are still here and Eze hasn’t moved. How long will this guy be here if he’s the real deal? Interesting comments about our improved injury record and “rebuilding” the club. Nice reference to the fans. Covered all bases without saying too much.
