We're not the only reference point from the past 🙂 We need to form our own identity. I hope and think this is 1) playing good passing football and 2) identifying good young talent and developing that talent. I’d much rather we did that then build a team for now. We need to find our own image but the best QPR sides were always influenced by others.

Don’t think anyone is saying the board has been anything but utter shite - clearly our predicament is largely their fault (and a bit previous managers). But just because the board are useless doesn’t change the fact that the board as of today can’t do anything. Loads of fans were saying FFP isn’t a problem/ it’s reset etc and that was clearly utter bollocks. No wonder they have gone quiet on that point! Very easy running a football club from a message board with other peoples money. The fact we have already broken FFP and in a major way would also probably be a factor in the legal advice they probably took saying the EFL would now throw the book at us if we went a penny over If i am correct FFP is irrelevant as we may be in league 1 or retain champiinship status. Either way the ultimate goal is money for Reuben a takeover by whoever for better or WORSE.Its collateral damage if we go down or no,please try to understand this. FFP just gives Reuben etc the ideal line to take,it wasnt our mismanagement,it wasnt our choice of players and it wasnt all the rubbish decisions we have made. It was FFP cause we had to stay in those guidelines. We all know different but the average supporter will accept that.

Fair enough, life experiences tend to form your trust. For me it’s about giving benefit of doubt to people involved at my football club. I think we should all be like that. Fair enough James. Giving the benefit of the doubt is very difficult for me.

And if we signed the player and were relegated anyway what would have been the point?

And if we signed the player and were relegated anyway what would have been the point? Its about the money, come on keep up Stains is correct on this one. Had we been at the other end of the table, spent the money, gone up and managed to stay there, that would have been a different story albeit still a risky strategy. The real test for this board will come with relegation, because then they are not restrained by FFP considerations. Then we'll see if they are prepared to spend a few quid in the market. The risk with that one is less media rights money, less gate money etc which might make us less attractive to any potential investors. What is undeniably true is that we have a huge wage bill off the park which some of us have been urging the club to remedy for years. Had we set about doing that five years ago, we would have saved enough to at least invest something this January (including the increased income from rights, the Beale GR payoff etc etc.) Never mind player recruitment, our fiscal management has been abysmal.

Spot on Hal. The sad thing is that the first year we went down we halved the wage bill, then second year we halved it again. So there was real progress there (albeit from crazy levels of expenditure). But then the board got all excited and thought they were in with a chance of promotion (which in hindsight looks naive at best) and since then the wage bill has been going up and up, mainly on shit players too.

If we went to League 1, the value of the club would drop significantly. So, if you believe owners are not spending due to greed rather than FFP, it doesn’t really make sense

Yea I guess but there’s certain roles you need more behind you than some polished interview skills and grand plans. Surely CEO you need some level of life experience. The meetings / negotiations they’re holding you want somebody with some gravitas? Hopefully it’s a great acquisition and such concerns are unfounded anyway. Surely can’t be worse than the previous …. lol

Ferdinand role as DOF was roundly criticised and rightly so due to his previous lack of hands on experience, yet we are doing similar with a completely unknown individual.
Only our incredibly inept owners can be repeatedly fleeced and look so stupid with their appointments.

If this new guy is up there on all the new tech and ideas he must be an improvement? The argument he must be an improvement is all ifs and buts with nothing concrete to back it up Alan? Do you really see Real Madrid, Roma and all these other successful clubs seeking the help of the Nourry and the company that he runs with less than 10 employees? How many coaches or managers do you hear that contact clubs like those already mentioned and ask to be allowed access to see how things operate, I’m guessing that’s probably the sum of his work experience. It seems to me easy to jump on the bandwagon of new tech and stats rather than focus on having good experienced coaches and scouts as a good baseline. Maybe I’m old but I don’t want kids as an academy director with next to no coaching experience such as Alex Carroll and a new CEO/DOF like Nourry with no previous hands on experience in the role.

Marti doesn’t seem entirely convinced by Nourry yet reading Dan Evans article. Not in any great detail. I'd be interested to learn more about it On the point of his age, I agree with Marti's comments on that. Richard Thompson was even younger (24) when he became QPR owner. Some rated him, others didn't.
