Apparently Mick Harford, Luton Towns DoF was there today looking at Field. They think Field is PL quality? 🤣 Cheap, does a job, good cover & will perform at a higher standard in a better side. No brainer tbh.

Was highly thought of at WBA, fans weren’t happy when we got him. Likely we’ve taken him backwards.

Like field but if we got a good offer I would be tempted take it try and use money get striker in.

Has to be the most overrated player I’ve ever seen play for us, not unhappy to see him leave.

He's good but he needs to be better at passing forwards.
Made a whole host of interceptions yesterday though, which is what he is in there for.
Would do a job at Luton, but not in the Prem. ut would be a good player to help get them back up again.

Worth having as long as Colback is in the side just to see who gets the first yellow!! Was one of my first names on the team sheet the last couple of years but has been poor this season.

Field, Chair, Paal….. can’t think of many/any others. Chair isn’t really replaceable. So I’d say Paal and Field. I like both of them but we need some cash!

Sell the big girls blouse. Start the clear out. No goals no assists this season. Forget the goals and assists how many forward passes played this season. Is it too much to expect a modern day holding player to have bit more pace and also be comfortable on the ball in MF.

Not sure we can knock him for his pace as we have signed him knowing what his athletic capabilities are but certainly his forward attacking game is there to be debated.

If I was opponent Field would not intimidate me with his play style, he doesn’t win many ‘all in tackles’ he tends to prod the ball away from an opponent if he’s close but is more often done for pace and ends up yellow carded for shirt pulling. There must be plenty of players of very limited technical ability on the ball just like him knocking around.

Fair points being made. He is a very good reader of the game, that’s why he always seems to be there blocking something. He’s in a poor team, that doesn’t help.

We would have known speed not his strength so we can’t retrospectively punish him for that.

Since Marti arrived I believe his game has changed and I think he’s been used more to block certain spaces rather than being asked to directly make regular contact with opposition players. With 3 players usually in defensive MF he’s never had it so easy since he’s joined us. I said in yesterdays match day thread I thought he was invisible as I don’t remember him doing anything of note in the game.

Look at our midfield today compared to when Field and Dozzell were regular starters. Almost totally transformed under Marti. We kept the ball, played it through midfield and actually made some forward passes for a change!

Great win yesterday but let’s not be too quick to dismiss loyal servants. Field will likely be here next season when the loans have departed. That’s Hodge’s first senior goal and tbh thought he went missing a bit when we were hanging on at the end, great tho it was to score the decisive goal. I’ve been as frustrated as anyone by the failure of Field and Dozzell to move the ball forward but as Timmy says he plays a totally different role to Hodge and we are going to need the full squad for the run in.
