Don't really think it's fair to dismiss Field so quickly. Not only has this kid only played a matter of minutes for us, he may not be so good in other games and in Field's defence he's done a lot of the shit work and been pretty consistent for us.

Think Fields weaknesses have been exposed as we are so toothless in attack and up front so we then look backwards for others to contribute and do something and it’s not his game. If we were scoring going forwards then he would be exactly what you would ask for in holding role.
I’m still a fan and when Hayden and Hodge go back to their clubs Field will still be here.
For me reminder of the season if your starting The two above then you dove tail Field and Colback and rotate them as they both pick up bookings and miss games and Colback likes an injury. Use them both sensibly keeping both fresh.

Hayden likely come here to put himself in shop window, he gives the impression money is secondary. Would really like to believe we could be in the hat to sign him come end of season

Assuming Field was suspended yesterday, as wasn't even on bench?
Colback and EDB started as holding MFs yesterday and don't think there's much between them and Field - so would agree with the above comments
What really made the difference was Hodge replacing EDB and Hayden replacing Dykes on 57 mins.

Great win yesterday but let’s not be too quick to dismiss loyal servants. Field will likely be here next season when the loans have departed. That’s Hodge’s first senior goal and tbh thought he went missing a bit when we were hanging on at the end, great tho it was to score the decisive goal. I’ve been as frustrated as anyone by the failure of Field and Dozzell to move the ball forward but as Timmy says he plays a totally different role to Hodge and we are going to need the full squad for the run in. Wise words worth reflecting on. As with West's post.

Beale must have spotted real weakness in Field’s all round game to be so eagerly encouraged to play in more advanced areas, I don’t believe it was too successful from memory imo.
Field contract is up at the end of this season but the club hold an option of another year. It’s often been said by the FFP doom mongers we’ve made our own FFP problems due to failures to sell players at the right time to move the club forward.
If we do survive it will be very interesting to see how Marti may set us up with a fresh start, would like to think he’s been hamstrung by Ainsworth poor points total.

Yea Field was brilliant tonight. Really turned it around in recent weeks. Marti seems to be working wonders with a lot of players (Dunne, Willock).

We not telling him to fuck off this week then guys as he’s not good enough like few weeks back? 😁
Super player who had a rare down period. More than good enough to pull the shirt on and one of our most consistent performers since he’s been at the club.
I’m a big fan 👌🏽

Hayden being next to Field has helped him as not charging around covering for Dozzel. Playing much higher up the pitch and fully deserved his 2 goals. Massive block at Leicester ensured 3 great points as well.

Invaluable to us.

I’m a big fan 👌🏽 tell you what i do love, every player has raised the bar and made the most of their opportunities. colback/haydon seemed like the shoe in pairing 2-3 weeks ago but how can field be dropped now? i think we've always had a good first 11 but shit squad, no one was in danger of being dropped so they didn't have to play well to keep their spots. i expect cannon or kakay to eventually come in ala kyle walker

This is what a bit of competition does. Puts people on their toes.
Biggest plus for me is not having to watch Lyndon Dykes try and impersonate a footballer for 90 mins every bloody week.

Dozzell seriously was the weak link in that midfield. Sometimes fans making plain their dismay and anger helps. Happy clapping only makes things worse.

And finally having a manager who can clearly identify a footballer's strengths and weaknesses? 2. Was it any coincidence that Dozzell left not long after Marti arrived? 3. And do we honestly believe the official reason given for his departure? Answers on a postcard 😎

We need Field / Hayden / Colback - As the Midfield Spine sign them all up regardless of where we are
Dunne also need signing up with Cook and JCS - Defence Spine
Sign Anderson to replace Willock

Doing the job now that Hodge was signed for as a B2B midfielder, hence keeping the latter out of the side.
So essentially 4 players now competing for the 2 CM positions (in Hayden, Field, Hodge and Colback).

Hodge must be pissed off as he came here to play but, debut aside, he doesn't get stuck in enough for me and is currently 4th on that list of 4. In fairness the other three have all played so well lately that they would keep a lot of players with more experience than Hodge out of the side. He could play in an Andersen role but the Dane looked the best player on the park midweek. Nice problems and all that.
