What great news. They surely wouldn't be giving out contracts (presumably on Championship money) if they thought we were going down. Kudos to Sam for signing as would have been very easy to be a tart and wait till the end of the season to see if he can wangle a signing on fee elsewhere. If Dozzell can get another Championship club I'm sure Field could pretty easily.

What madness is this? Locking in one of our better and more saleable assets on a new contract? Bring back the good old days of 4 year contracts to Niko

Prob got a relegation release clause but great that he wants to stay on. I imagine Marti and how we play will make people want to stay and play.

Doing the job now that Hodge was signed for as a B2B midfielder, hence keeping the latter out of the side. So essentially 4 players now competing for the 2 CM positions (in Hayden, Field, Hodge and Colback). Hodge must be pissed off as he came here to play but, debut aside, he doesn't get stuck in enough for me and is currently 4th on that list of 4. In fairness the other three have all played so well lately that they would keep a lot of players with more experience than Hodge out of the side. He could play in an Andersen role but the Dane looked the best player on the park midweek. Nice problems and all that. agree debut aside he’s been ok but not made impact of Hayden or Anderson.

Hodge. He’ll get more of a chance once we don’t have our backs to the wall so much.

The Marti effect.
Let’s get Willock tied down next.
Well done QPR & Christian Nourry.

Like the part about enjoying working with Marti, Great news and big signing for next season. Willock next, then Eze to be sold and give it a right go with this squad. The style of play is also a factor in getting good young premier league players on loan.

Happy with this.
Most of these players, have now proved that they are capable, and deserve to be playing professional football in this division, as as long as we have a manager with a clue. Welldone field.

Welldone field. Jimmy Dunne and Willock to follow. Get a right back a forward and a decent is in place. This manager has given the clubs, players and fans a lot to look forward to.

Just going back a couple of months it's amazing how many people wanted Field gone... Fickle ain’t we. Slightly different note but I recall an earlier discussion (possibly pre-season) with another poster saying an u18 Iraq international would be playing ahead of Field this season LOL

Just going back a couple of months it's amazing how many people wanted Field gone... absolutely and was total nonsense. Paal another player picking up some flack when overall he’s been very consistent for us. Personally wish we had more Fields and Paals then Richards, Kanes and Barton’s.

Just going back a couple of months it's amazing how many people wanted Field gone... Ok, let's analyse this: Gone as in sold or gone as in dropped? I certainly never wanted him sold and have always rated him. He had a poor run of form which is what drew criticism from some quarters (that's not fans being fickle imo). That poor run could be attributed to several factors. E.g: 1) Having to play next to Dozzell 2) Taking time to adapt to the new system and manager 3) Gelling with the new signings, Hayden and Hodge He's ticked all those boxes and more now, and is playing the best football of his QPR career. Dozzell leaving and playing in the new system has freed him up with Marti giving him more license to roam forward in more of a classic B2B midfielder role, and Hayden now providing defensive cover when needed. He's also clearly thriving under the new manager and has now signed a new contract which is fantastic.

Losing his place seriously helped. Sitting on the bench for one game helped. Not having the millstone of Dopey Dozzell around his neck is helping massively. Competition for places matters. Improvement pays dividends. Critics are often your best friend. Delighted he's doing what he can do and wasn't. It's brilliant.

Hayden instead of Dozzell has allowed Field to get forward and give us another man when are attacking. Playing with Hayden has helped Field and Colback waiting to come in is a great incentive to keep pushing on.
